The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Integration Engineer to join a forward-thinking technology business in Cambridge. This role offers the chance to work in a collaborative, hybrid environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, cutting-edge products.
Working closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team—including mechanical, hardware, software, and logic specialists—you’ll play a key role in ensuring seamless integration, reliable performance, and end-to-end quality across complex systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual system integration and functional testing, ensuring smooth interaction between hardware and software components.
- Participate in Agile Scrum meetings to align on priorities and progress.
- Develop and maintain basic Python scripts to automate repetitive tests and support regression testing.
- Investigate and document defects, working with engineers to identify and resolve issues.
- Validate full system behaviour, including REST API interactions and hardware responses.
- Maintain and improve test environments, plans, and cases.
- Identify test cases suitable for automation and collaborate with automation engineers to implement them.
About You
Essential:
- Strong academic background in science, technology, computer science, or engineering.
- At least 2 years’ experience in system-level testing or hardware/software integration.
- Analytical troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Experience testing network-based applications (REST APIs, client-server).
- Basic scripting skills in Python.
Desirable:
- ISTQB Foundation or similar qualification.
- Experience with Linux, Embedded Linux, and Windows OS.
- Knowledge of CI tools (e.g., Jenkins) and version control (e.g., Git/SVN).

Work closely with both the IT, Integration Team and users of the business. The Integration Systems Specialist will have responsibility improving the following areas of the business in relation to systems and usage, with a focus on CASH4Windows system, but not limited to it.
- Ensuring the group can meet its corporative objectives through the provision of innovative solution, focusing on data, system usage, training and effective reporting.
- Focus on optimisation of CASH4Windows across all Fire Division Businesses.
- Focus on training of employees on CASH4Windows across all Fire Division Businesses.
- Assist the Application Development Team, rolling out, training of new systems, processes and reports.
- Writing clear and comprehensive documentation for processes, reports, systems, functions, etc to support and deliver new systems / technologies, and to support training initiatives
- Prepare, review and execute mass uploads and changes of data
- Identify data issues and work with stakeholders to resolve inaccuracies.
- Extraction and presentation of data from the Group’s core business systems and analysis of the data to support revised business practices.
- Cleansing of such data to ensure accurate reporting across the business.
- Provide technical support, training and problem analysis for the Group’s core business systems, both office and field based.
- Support users across the Group with the implementation of new information systems.
- Support business users in developing detailed training plans and conduct training sessions to improve the usage of the IT systems.
- Communicate information systems plans to business users, encouraging end ownership and adoption of these systems.
- Identify areas of opportunity to reduce paper usage within the business and improve overall productivity.
- Be a visible leader of the Integration, Alignment and Commercial Team
- Be a major influencer over all of Service Delivery, Integration & IT and the wider company as necessary
- Be a Subject Matter Expert in the business
- Always providing competent support and expert advice to stakeholders across the organisation
- Work with any external third party to help accelerate our drive to deliver consistent and high-quality customer service
- Monitor and review project performance, alerting the Project Manager/Programme Manager to any potential areas of concern
- Manage the quality of project documentation, ensuring all project products are produced to the high standards expected by the programme

Job Requirements:
5+ years experience in an engineering integration environment
- Experience of the engineering functional approaches, processes and activities
