The group tax department is responsible for the overall management of the group’s tax affairs and the formulation of the Rentokil Initial tax strategy as approved by the group board.

The team is responsible, amongst other things, for preparing all UK corporation tax computations and returns, group tax reporting and forecasting, international tax planning and support with tax audits, review of worldwide inter-company debt arrangements, formulating and implementing the group’s transfer pricing strategy, provision of tax support to the group’s mergers and acquisitions team and provision of advice and support to the businesses on payroll taxes and indirect taxes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified tax professional working in-house in tax or within a major accountancy practice and looking to take the next step into a multinational FTSE 50 business.

Responsibilities

The Tax Reporting Manager will be responsible for:

Managing the year-end and interim tax reporting processes, including the preparation of consolidated tax disclosures for inclusion in the group accounts;

Managing and preparing UK/Group workings which are critical to the audit process, including the Uncertain Tax Provision working, share based payments, pensions and DTA recognition on tax losses;

Reviewing the tax provisions of a number of overseas businesses in order to ensure that materially correct tax numbers are reported under IFRS.

Co-ordinating and responding to auditor queries as the primary point of contact;

Ensuring that suitable controls operate in relation to the group’s tax reporting which meet US SOX requirements;

Budgeting and forecasting the group effective tax rate;

Monitoring monthly cash tax payments;

Review of the group’s Country by Country Report

Supporting the tax director on various tax department projects;

The opportunity to get involved in international tax issues;

Requirements

  • Chartered Tax Advisor or qualified accountant who has trained in tax

Skills & Experience

Essential

· Good knowledge of IFRS reporting standards, particularly in relation to taxation

· Excellent knowledge of tax accounting principles including deferred taxation

Solid experience gained working within corporate tax across significant region(s) (e.g. EMEA/APAC or LATAM etc)

Good understanding of international tax issues

Strong excel skills and being able to work with large amounts of data to create reports for analysis

Excellent interpersonal skills and strong command of written and verbal English

Ability to work to deadlines, both internal and external, and manage time constraints

Desirable

· Experience of working for a large corporate with international operations and groups of companies

A look into the role

As an Associate Director within our tax reporting team, you will:
  • Work with the Partner & Director team to provide tax audit services to some of the firm’s largest audit clients with a specific focus on our Public interest market as your ‘centre of desk’ focus to deliver high quality services in a timely manner;
  • Be exposed to complex UK and international tax matters and develop relationships with our overseas member firms;
  • Provide tax reporting and complex corporate tax compliance services to clients and support the wider firm in related areas and advisory projects;
  • Act as a key contact for tax reporting and tax audit matters for the wider firm together with the development of thought leadership and training with respect to changes in accounting standards and related application;
  • Provide operational support to the management of the tax reporting team (eg resourcing, training and quality reviews);
  • Engage in business development activities supporting our go to market strategy for audit and tax growth;
  • Be part of a supportive team with scope to grow and develop your career in a manner that works for you;

Joining us as a Associate Director, the minimum criteria you’ll need is a professional qualification (CTA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with post qualification experience, and a desire to build a specialism in tax reporting.

It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way:
  • You’ll strong knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation and a working knowledge of international concepts
  • You’ll have strong tax accounting knowledge with particular familiarity of IAS 12 and FRS 102.29
  • You’ll have experience in undertaking tax audits as a tax specialist or tax expert
  • You’ll have gained experience working within a professional services environment and be used to building relationships and managing the delivery of complex assignments with multiple stakeholders
  • You’ll have reviewed work and supervised people in a tax environment
  • An eagerness to develop deep knowledge of the firm’s services and capabilities

About the role

The role of a Tax Trainee is to assist in the provision of corporate tax compliance and advisory services as part of a specialist team to a portfolio of clients. They are to assist in the preparation of company's corporation tax computations and returns and to ensure that they show a true representation of the company's tax position and provide bespoke advice to clients on their tax affairs. You will be provided an opportunity to work with colleagues in different tax disciplines during your time on our graduate programme, resulting in a broad understanding of the services we can offer our clients.

During your first two years you will:
  • Learn how to use Alphatax (the tax software) and processes in order to prepare a corporation tax computation and return and learn how to prepare tax numbers for financial statements.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of financial statements and the nature of the clients' business to complete corporation tax computation.
  • Be able to obtain relevant information from other departments and clients whilst building good communication with both.
  • Help write reports and produce other client deliverables to assist the client in explaining issues, risks and solutions in easily understandable language that they can act on.
  • Support the team with client relationships and requests.

By the end of your third year you will:
  • Have a structured client portfolio focusing on tax reporting to manage.
  • Work on a range of different tax reporting and advisory engagements across UK tax covering a range of technical areas
  • Develop a strong technical knowledge of the UK tax legislation.
  • Coach and lead more junior team members on advisory engagements.
  • Understand the way in which different corporate entities operate across a range of sectors.
  • Work directly with our clients and begin developing relationships with those clients to deliver on repeat engagements.
  • Begin to manage tax reporting engagements, including planning, budgeting and project managing different service lines.
  • Develop a strong understanding of our control and risk management procedures.

About the role

The role of a Tax Trainee is to assist in the provision of corporate tax compliance and advisory services as part of a specialist team to a portfolio of clients. They are to assist in the preparation of company's corporation tax computations and returns and to ensure that they show a true representation of the company's tax position and provide bespoke advice to clients on their tax affairs. You will be provided an opportunity to work with colleagues in different tax disciplines during your time on our graduate programme, resulting in a broad understanding of the services we can offer our clients.

During your first two years you will:
  • Learn how to use Alphatax (the tax software) and processes in order to prepare a corporation tax computation and return and learn how to prepare tax numbers for financial statements.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of financial statements and the nature of the clients' business to complete corporation tax computation.
  • Be able to obtain relevant information from other departments and clients whilst building good communication with both.
  • Help write reports and produce other client deliverables to assist the client in explaining issues, risks and solutions in easily understandable language that they can act on.
  • Support the team with client relationships and requests.

By the end of your third year you will:
  • Have a structured client portfolio focusing on tax reporting to manage.
  • Work on a range of different tax reporting and advisory engagements across UK tax covering a range of technical areas
  • Develop a strong technical knowledge of the UK tax legislation.
  • Coach and lead more junior team members on advisory engagements.
  • Understand the way in which different corporate entities operate across a range of sectors.
  • Work directly with our clients and begin developing relationships with those clients to deliver on repeat engagements.
  • Begin to manage tax reporting engagements, including planning, budgeting and project managing different service lines.
  • Develop a strong understanding of our control and risk management procedures.
  • Have experience in supporting business development to bring new client wins to the team and to your portfolio.
