Are you a passionate Teaching Assistant looking to support pupils with Special Educational Needs?
Are you wanting to work in a mainstream school teaching secondary age pupils?
Are you looking to work school hours on a term time only contract?
LTS are currently looking for a committed and motivated Teaching Assistant to start immediately in one of our client schools in the Walthamstow.
You will be supporting primary aged pupils who have Special Educational Needs; namely:
- Autism Spectrum Condition
- Speech, language and communication needs
- Social and emotional difficulties
You will be working across three designated classrooms, one for Key Stage 3 pupils, one for Key Stage 4 pupils and one for sixth forms attendees, supporting the students to successfully manage their needs and progress in a mainstream school.
You may work with them on a one-to-one or small group basis throughout the day and support them with both their learning and their personal needs.
The role is full time, Monday to Friday, from 8.30am until 3.30pm each day.
You will be paid daily, between £90 and £3 a day, on a weekly basis and you will be expected to follow the local school term dates, ideally avoiding taking holiday in term time to enable you to build good relationships with the pupils.
This role is not without its challenges; however, it is very rewarding, and you will be fully supported by a highly skilled, friendly staff team who will equip you with the resources and knowledge you need to help the pupils to progress.
The ideal candidate would be expected to:
- Work towards the pupils individualised targets set out within their EHCP, in liaison with the class teachers and senior leaders
- Develop knowledge of the particular needs of the pupils and seek advice from the senior leaders, class teachers and outside agencies as directed
- Be fully involved in the planning, preparation and delivery of the day-to-day activities
- Provide regular feedback to the class teachers about the pupil's progress and difficulties
- Use individualised strategies to support the pupils to access the curriculum and thrive personally
- Encourage and enable pupil participation and performance
- Supervise the pupils during non-classroom time
Experience with Special Educational Needs, specifically supporting those with Autism is essential for this role.
