Project Lead Engineer (Mechanical)

The Project Lead Engineer will play a pivotal role in the delivery of a key package of work as part of a major defence infrastructure programme in Scotland.
You will oversee the development of requirements, technical scope, desktop studies, and assurance activities, ensuring the successful design and implementation of works by consultants and contractors. This includes the replacement/refurbishment of existing structures, plant, and equipment to meet modern standards and regulations.
What Do We Need
+ Experience working in a highly regulated environment, demonstrating compliance with legislation and standards.
+ Strong knowledge and experience in Mechanical Engineering, including familiarity with British Standards and Eurocodes.
+ Proven expertise across concept design, detailed design, and construction stages in heavy industrial and/or mechanical engineering systems.
+ Experience managing project engineering work packages, including site implementation and integration, within a regulated environment.
+ Proficiency in reviewing and producing technical documentation, such as reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
+ Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across diverse teams.
Qualifications
Degree qualification in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
Location
The role is Hybrid where 3 days per week will be spent in the office in Glasgow City Centre. Occasional site visits will be required.

  • Oversee and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Ensure effective communication and stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implement and adhere to project management best practices and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in project management, with a significant focus on technology and innovation projects.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale, complex projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of various project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, PRINCE2).
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and motivational skills.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
