The Role
We have an exciting opportunity in our London office for the position of Mechanical Project Lead within our dynamic Mission Critical team. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of technical expertise that will be invaluable to this team.
This role plays a pivotal part in propelling our business and the mission critical team to success by harnessing strong technical prowess and leadership. By strategically aligning technical approaches, ensuring quality through verification processes, and upholding meticulous technical standards, we aim to deliver standout solutions that surpass client and NDY expectations. Managing risks effectively through consistency and thorough quality checks will be paramount. Effective leadership will underpin a culture of collaboration, support, and successful project delivery within the mission critical team.
As the Project Lead, you will be tasked with applying your engineering management skills to develop and execute project plans for large multi-disciplinary project where NDY are lead designers . Your key responsibility will be to maintain exceptional performance across all technical functions while mentoring junior mechanical team members and in turn, Supporting divisional Directors and Leaders, as well as collaborating with technical specialists as needed, will be integral to your role.
Key Challenges:
- Navigating collaborations with varied stakeholders in a complex setting.
- Resolving challenges presented by legacy systems.
- Optimising technical resources in delivery.
- Upholding strict quality assurance and verification standards.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering qualifications alongside significant training and experience.
- Official training and certification such as Registered Building Practitioner; CEng.
- A minimum of 7 years of technical expertise, demonstrating proficiency in managing diverse projects throughout the entire systems development lifecycle, including overseeing large and complex projects.

- Preferably, a background of at least 4 years in the Mission Critical Sector.

Key responsibilities:

The Project Procurement Lead manages procurement activities for assigned investment projects and coordinates planning and execution at the Reading site(if required, at other sites). The Project Procurement Lead holds strategic responsibility for procurement of goods & services for the construction of manufacturing, laboratory & office facilities for projects of values between £ million and 00 million.
Key responsibilities:
- Development of Procurement Execution Strategy and coordination of procurement activities for assigned investment projects.
- End-to-end commercial ownership of procurement, expediting, contract management & closeout of contracts for;
o Goods: Process equipment, electrical equipment, AHU’s, black utilities pumps & valves, lab equipment, furniture, consumables, pumps & automation systems and spare parts for above
o Services such as: Construction, piping, HVAC, electrical & cleanroom fit-out, consulting, engineering and planning
- Active management of the Procurement Master Plan (PMP) during project execution to ensure timely project reporting, identification & mitigation of risks
- Close collaboration with a multitude of stakeholders such as:
o Procurement team (category owners, buyers, order managers & contract managers)
o Procurement management & category management
o Project Director or Managers, engineers & subject matter experts dedicated to projects
o Support functions such as Quality, EHS, Legal, Finance, HR etc.
o Key third party collaborators including EPCM, EPC or main trade or equipment suppliers
Key requirements:
- Capex project / procurement management ? 10 y, pharma / biotech sectors an advantage
- Experience in plant construction as well as in the areas of procurement, sales, contract
Languages: Required: English fluent; Advantage: German
- Team player with ability to communicate & work efficiently in matrix organizations and interdisciplinary teams
- Excellent business mindset, strategic, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Initiative and resilience – ability to work in an exciting, ever changing environment

**Responsibilities:**
+ Lead, manage and coach the project controls team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, providing clear performance expectations, feedback and development opportunities for the team.
+ Lead the continuous improvement of project controls operations within the department, including (but not limited to) scheduling, cost estimating and control, resourcing and analysis of project data to provide credible management information to support decision making.
+ Lead the application of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance standards, preferably to ANSI or APM standards
+ Expert knowledge and application of Primavera P6, Deltek COBRA cost management system, and company ERP systems
+ Assuring departmental project controls outputs as required
+ Ensuring compliance with departmental standards by all projects.
+ Support bid activity within the department, ensuring credible plans, estimates and risk profiles are included within proposals provided to potential customers.
+ Training, coaching and mentoring of project team members
+ Communicating effectively with a range of external and internal stakeholders at all levels and functions

**We are looking for:**
+ Significant, demonstrable Project Controls, Planning and/or Cost Management experience in the defence or other regulated industry, managing controls throughout the entire project lifecycle.
+ Strong awareness of commercial operations, and/or prime contract experience with, ideally in a SSRO QSC/CAAS reporting environment
+ Expert knowledge and application of EVMS processes within an EVM system.
+ Expert user of Oracle Primavera P6.
+ Significant experience using cost management and finance systems
+ A strong disposition for professionally maintaining project-wide adherence and compliance to processes, and procedures, sometimes in the face of adversity
+ Providing training and/or mentoring within a cohesive team environment
+ Excellent communication (both written/verbal) and listening skills and a demonstrable ability to persuade others, especially influencing senior leadership.
+ Professional qualifications in project management or control disciplines and/or membership of a related professional organisation eg MAPM, ChPP, PMP.
+ Security level SC UK (UK eyes only - single UK Nationality) required or ability to gain.
