About your new role

The Head of Technical Architecture is a senior position responsible for bridging the gap of complex technical systems and comprehensive documentation. In this role, you will use deep technical and programming expertise to meticulously document our software architecture, ensuring the security and integrity of our systems. As a key player to the Development division, you will be responsible for showcasing our software solutions and products through compelling demonstrations, as well as providing the necessary technical content for tender and bid processes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Head of Technical Architecture, you will be required to undertake the following responsibilities as part of your day to day activities:

  • Lead on the creation and maintenance of detailed technical documentation for software architecture, system designs, and development processes.
  • Work closely alongside the Development teams to ensure accuracy and relevance of technical documentation.
  • Document and enforce best practices for both cybersecurity and infrastructure security, including the documentation of threat models, security protocols, and compliance requirements. 
  • Draft the technical sections of proposals, bids and tenders, taking complex technical information and translating it into clear, persuasive content which addresses our client requirements.
  • Develop and deliver engaging technical demonstrations for internal and external stakeholders, as well as potential clients, articulating the value and functionality of our software solutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance across the business to project management, business development, marketing and software development.
  • Communicate between various functions of the wider business, from C-Suite to junior team members.

Requirements

To be successful for this role, you will ideally meet these requirements:

  • A strong understanding of the development lifecycle and methodologies, including software/technical architecture, software architecture patterns, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles, network security, and data protection. (ISO 27001).
  • A keen interest in emerging technologies within software development, cloud-computing, APIs, microservices and security.
  • Proven experience as a senior developer or architect with a strong background in programming.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear documentation.
  • Experience in creating technical content for proposals, tenders, or bids.
  • Previous experience in delivering product demonstrations and presentations to both, technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Essential : A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Desirable : A role specific qualification such as an Agile certification.

The role - As Enterprise Application Architect, you will:

  • Lead the development of application architectures that are fully aligned with business, data, and technology domains.
  • Drive application rationalisation and the retirement of legacy systems.
  • Integrate automated, AI, and cloud-smart approaches at the heart of their digital estate.
  • Create TOGAF-aligned deliverables including architecture principles, roadmaps, and gap analyses.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into effective, future-proof technology solutions.
  • Provide thought leadership, mentoring, and consultancy across the organisation.
  • Deputise for the Head of Enterprise Architecture when required.
  • This is a senior, strategic position where you'll combine leadership and technical expertise with the ability to influence and guide key decisions across the client.

What we're looking for, You'll bring a blend of vision, experience, and influence. Essential skills and experience include:

  • A degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional knowledge of TOGAF and related frameworks (e.g. ArchiMate).
  • At least 5 years' experience in Enterprise Architecture within a complex environment.
  • Strong knowledge of application rationalisation, automation, and AI integration.
  • Expertise with Enterprise Application Architecture tooling (e.g. ArchiMate, Sparx, Ardoq, BizzDesign).
  • Significant cloud experience - Azure is essential (AWS/GCP desirable).
  • A solid understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, APIs, SOA, microservices, and event-driven services.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leading small teams of architects.


Desirable experience includes:

  • Integration platform improvements.
  • Cloud-smart strategies and automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with ITSM/ITIL and system development life cycle methodologies.

Looking for a Enterprise Architect to join a small team of 3 and be responsible for modelling the enterprise architecture.

Skills & experience required bullet points:

* Experienced in a range of architectural disciplines with deep skills in at least one architectural domain including, IT system or technical architecture, business architecture, solution architecture, data architecture, etc.
* Experience documenting the architecture of an organisation including the technology, people, process and other elements used to achieve the organisation's objectives.
