We're seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead and implement strategy for manufacturing operations of a complex electro-mechanical engineering client based in Ely.

Key Responsibilities:
*Conduct at least two Value Stream transformation projects annually, working closely with relevant teams to achieve tangible results in production efficiency and performance
*Work closely with Planners to ensure route times are accurate and can be relied on to schedule load balanced end-to-end production flow that minimises stockouts and backorders
*Support the sales and technical support teams when customer issues arise

Requirements:

  • Keep the Supplier and Technical Production Manager, Journals, up to date with supplier performance data.

Main Functions of the Job

  • Develop and optimize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for all production activities.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with R&D, quality assurance, and engineering teams to ensure seamless product development and transition to manufacturing.
  • Lead process improvement projects using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Develop and manage process documentation, including flow charts, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
  • Train production staff on new processes, equipment, and quality standards.
  • Monitor production KPIs and provide regular reports on process performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all production processes comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies to improve manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a process engineering or manufacturing engineering role, with a focus on production optimization.
  • Proven experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, automation, and control systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software and CAD tools.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
