About the role:
We are currently recruiting an experienced Service Engineer/Service Technician to join our team at our depot in Walsall. This role is both a depot and field-based role covering operations across the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled engineer with diesel engine experience looking to develop their career.
What you’ll be doing:
Service, maintain, and repair pumps, generators, and diesel-powered equipment in both depot and field-based environments.
Prepare and inspect equipment at the depot to ensure it is fully operational before deployment.
Carry out major overhauls and refurbishments of end-of-life equipment.
Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
Collaborate effectively with the service team, hire controller, and foreman to ensure smooth operations.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies at all times.
Maintain a clean and organised working environment, ensuring all equipment meets safety and quality standards.
You’ll have:
Mechanical experience, with working with plant equipment, pumps, generators, and diesel engines.
Good working knowledge of EHSQ
Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3, an M&E related apprenticeship or equivalent.
Full UK Driving licence

Service Engineer position available for an engineering company, paying a starting salary of £32,000 a year. On target earnings I’m up to £45,000 a year.
The service engineer for this company will be covering the area's of Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle and surrounding areas. Mobile service engineers will be responsible for checking over equipment and machinery in buildings and also basic checks on company vehicles. You will be working from checklists, to make sure the machinery is working properly, that there is no damage and there are no faults or issues. Maintenance may involve greasing or cleaning of parts, replacement of basic parts, checks of parts and equipment and then reporting major faults or work that needs doing.
We are looking for people who have mechanical and electrical understanding and experience. You will ideally be able to read electrical/mechanical drawings, and you must have a good use of hand and power tools. The ideal candidate could come from a service engineer, maintenance background, automotive background or have experience in maintaining, installing, or repairing industrial machinery.
A company vehicle and tooling will be provided. But you must have a full UK driving license, be willing to travel distances and occasionally stay away from home for short periods of time overnight.
