At Blue Arrow we are proud to be working with a leading manufacturing company to recruit a skilled and reliable Technical Advisor. We work on a large-scale, innovative and strategic projects. In this role, you'll be the expert that engineers and customers turn to for clear, confident support over the phone. You'll use your technical knowledge to explain complex information in a way that's easy to understand. If you enjoy solving problems, communicating clearly this is a great opportunity to shine.

Full time permanent basis.
Hours: Mon - Sat - 39.5 per week.
Basic working hours:
- 8:00am - 18:00pm (Monday - Friday)
On a rota basis:
- 8.00am - 12.00pm (Saturday)

What duties would you be doing in the Technical Advisor role?
- You will be a part of a friendly Technical Service team, supporting engineers and customers over via telephone.
- Use your knowledge to explain technical info clearly and confidently.
- Understand customer needs and offer helpful, practical advice with a professional tone.
- Deliver excellent service while staying calm and clear under pressure.
- Work towards achievable targets and KPIs with support from your team.

Requirements:
- GCSE Grade 4 or above or an equivalent qualification in English is essential for all applicants.
- You have a passion for customer service and pride yourself on exceeding the expectations of our customers.
- You have a good problem-solving aptitude which enables you to diagnose possible faults with accuracy.
- You are computer literate having previous experience using all Microsoft applications and you have a good understanding of Salesforce.

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Advisor to expand our technical team, providing technical expertise ensuring all waste enquiries received are dealt with in a timely manner whilst being professional and complying with the relevant policies and legislations.

Your core responsibilities

  • Technically assess all waste enquiries working to the appropriate technical guidance documentations, policies, and legislations to provide the correct classification and landfill taxation, where applicable.
  • Ensuring compliance with the relevant legislations and environmental permits.
  • Complete re-assessments of existing waste streams into sites.
  • Interpret and assess data (chemical analysis & MSDS) to ensure the correct waste treatment or disposal avenue is provided in accord with waste hierarchy.
  • Ensure all pre-acceptance information has been received for the waste stream/job before being approved on Biffa’s internal system.
  • All enquiries are to be responded to promptly and efficiently.
  • Provide technical guidance, advice and support to sites, customers, and commercial sale teams. (This could involve phone/team calls, emails, and occasional site visits).

As our Senior Technical Advisor  you'll play a key role in some of the world's most exciting renewable technology projects. We're passionate about our work and love driving innovation to shape a sustainable future. In this role, you'll help our clients with their cable projects, making sure everything runs safely, efficiently, and according to industry standards.


Anchoring Your Impact:

  • You provide top notch technical advice and guidance on our projects, helping our clients forward. 

  • You utilise your years of relevant experience, specifically in offshore projects, to drive innovation and optimize project outcomes. 

  • You apply your academic engineering background to analyse complex problems and develop effective solutions. 

  • You collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, both remotely and at client offices, to ensure seamless project execution.  


You’ve got it:  
 

  • You have 7+ years of relevant experience in the offshore cable / pipeline installation sector.

  • Your academic engineering-level education (or similar qualification) ensures you are the go-to person in your field of expertise; always ahead of the game and constantly on the lookout for more knowledge. A big plus if you love to indulge yourself in sustainability topics.

  • Your communication skills? We value them highly. From making a difference in owner's strategies to negotiations with authorities, you know how to get your point across and communicate openly. And of course, you can also isolate yourself, put on your headphones, and dive into a challenge.

  • You like taking initiative and keep your eyes on the prize in order to achieve great results, taking every angle of the project into consideration.

  • Going the extra mile for the team? You’re the first one to raise your hand.

  • When a project takes an unexpected turn, you don't panic. You quickly weigh the options, make a plan and adapt.
