**In this role, a typical day will look like:**
+ Be involved in brainstorming, initial concept generation, rapid prototyping and testing to identify issues, problem solving and design improvement.
+ System-level design of complex mechanical/electromechanical ink jet components such as print head and ink systems.
+ Participate in Design reviews and DFMEA analysis of design concepts/prototypes to identify potential failure modes and improve the current design.
+ Working on new technology prototype printers to diagnose and solve complex issues.
+ Participate, and where necessary be responsible for, technical reviews, feasibility studies and project reviews, and provide technical support for other departments.
**The essential requirements of the job include:**
+ Mechatronic/Mechanical Engineering (Degree or HNC level) or equivalent experience.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
The main responsibilities and accountabilities of the role are:

Through kitchen science demonstrations all the way through crafting animatic and mode of action videos to bring the science to life digitally .
+ Delivery of claims substantiation and defence strategies, delivering outstanding communications for our innovations that are robustly supported with technical and consumer evidence - with full alignment of critical business partners ( eg marketing, legal, regulatory).
+ S upport competitor challenge activities by provid ing guidance, leadership and R&D points of view on competitor claims challenges inbound and outbound.
+ Lead consumer insights to inform and underpin programme of work being led from Antiperspirant Technology Platform through to the brand. This may entail leading strategic initiatives, informing, developing & refining work on 'growth spaces' relevant to Rexona /Sure . Sector: Research & Development

Are you a curious and driven R&D professional with a passion for innovation in materials? We're looking for an R&D Technologist to join a close-knit team, working directly with the Head of QA & Development team. This is a hands-on role where you'll play a key part in shaping the future of flocked flooring products.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead and contribute to R&D projects, both independently and collaboratively
  • Apply expertise in colour theory, dyeing techniques, and colourfastness
  • Ensure safe working practices across lab and factory environments
  • Communicate effectively to develop innovative textile solutions
  • Evaluate raw materials based on their properties and processing behaviour
  • Support production teams with technical insights and problem-solving
  • Operate lab and pilot equipment, following lab protocols
  • Investigate and recommend new products and continuous improvement ideas

What we're looking for:

  • Educated to degree or higher in a science-based discipline
  • Strong understanding of raw materials, R&D processes, lab equipment, and safe lab practices
  • Experience managing multiple R&D projects with strong planning and prioritisation skills
  • Clear and effective communicator, both written and verbal
  • Precision in lab work, documentation, and quality control
  • Ability to interpret data and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Creative and curious, always exploring new ideas and solutions
  • Preferred: Experience in a manufacturing environment
