Main Duties - Employment Advisor:

  • Support those who have been out of work for longer periods might need extra help to move back into employment. The BBE employability team will break down employment barriers that could be holding people back from finding work.
  • As an Employment Advisor working on externally funded employability programmes, you will work with adult job seekers who are preparing to move into employment, helping them to identify and address the barriers that make this difficult by providing exemplary case management, including support, advice, advocacy and signposting to relevant services
  • You will provide information, advice and guidance and develop and maintain an action plan with each job seeker. You will agree a range of range activities with the job seeker to enable and inspire them to achieve sustained employment alongside non-employment progression measures, including improving wellbeing, self-confidence and level of independence
  • Where a contract requires, you will deliver support by using both models of Supported Employment; Individual Placement and Support (IPS) and Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF).
  • You will work in partnership with a wide variety of local agencies, partners, employers and colleagues within the team to provide the best support to individuals.

  • Knowledge of the IPS model (training provided if not previously delivered).
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders and promote services effectively.
  • Comfortable working across multiple boroughs and locations.
  • Basic IT skills and proficiency with case management or CRM systems.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in mental health, primary care, public health or community-based services.
  • Experience working to performance targets in a fast-paced, outcomes-focused environment.
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable, not essential).

Purpose

Working on the Haringey and Enfield contract, embedded with Primary Care, Community Health Teams, and the wider community you will be delivering employment support to participants in parallel to the health treatment being delivered by NHS clinicians. Working intensively with a maximum active caseload of 30 participants who have a health condition which impacts on their ability to gain work or stay in work. Assisting them to obtain and sustain employment that is consistent with their vocational goals, following the eight principles of Individual Placement and Support (IPS). Meeting and exceeding performance targets for referrals, programme starts, employer engagement, job starts and sustainment, in compliance with contractual guidelines and quality procedures.

Belmont Recruitment are looking to speak with Employment Specialists / IPS for a position working within the Brixton area of London.

The position is a full-time contract, working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

The role will include you building partnerships with employers to identify job opportunities, and to understand local employer need and requirements in order to bring onboard new employment opportunities for people on the clients programme.

The role is full-time, working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm for 37.5h a week, and is initially a 1 to 3 month contract.

Salary: £18-£1 DOE
Contract Length: 1 to 3 months with a view to extend.
Hours: Full-time
Location: Brixton

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

To inspire people with complex mental health conditions to progress, and to gain and sustain paid employment. The Senior Employment Specialist will support clients directly by managing a caseload and will also support and develop the wider IPS team. The Senior Employment Specialist will work across the local NHS secondary care network alongside NHS clinicians to secure client referrals.

To work with clients with complex mental health conditions, you will need to be comfortable supporting people who have experienced / are experiencing serious mental health challenges, as well as possibly other serious difficulties in their lives. Although you will receive full training and support, it's important you are aware of the potential impact this may have on your own mental wellbeing.

The Senior Employment Specialist will follow the 8 principles of IPS, adhere to the IPS Fidelity Scale and achieve monthly targets and KPIs with the required administration and compliance.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tickall the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years' experience in employment services, preferably utilising the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model. They will demonstrate a strong understanding of the mental health recovery framework and possess a proven track record of successfully placing individuals with barriers to employment into suitable roles. Excellent networking and employer engagement skills are essential, along with a deep understanding of the support needs of people with mental health conditions in securing, returning to, or retaining mainstream employment. Additionally, the candidate should have relevant knowledge and experience of working within a health or social care setting.
