What you'll be doing
You’ll lead testing activities across multiple projects, providing both strategic direction and hands-on expertise in manual and automated testing. Working within delivery teams, you’ll collaborate with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, developers, and other stakeholders to define quality criteria, assess risk, and plan appropriate test coverage.
You’ll champion modern testing practices, including shift-left testing, continuous integration, and test automation. Your role will involve designing and executing test plans, building automation frameworks, and ensuring compliance with accessibility and data protection standards.
As a key member of the Testing Community of Practice, you’ll contribute to the development of testing standards and share your knowledge to help improve testing across the organisation.
Who we're looking for

- Manage the entire defect lifecycle by identifying, tracking, prioritizing, and ensuring timely resolution of defects with functional and technical team
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to the testing process and business process changes to prevent delays and maintain project stability
Qualifications / Experience required:

- Strong stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to work with senior leadership, security, IT, and architecture.
- Expertise in test strategy, planning, execution, and defect management.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with automation tools and modern delivery methodologies (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD).
- Knowledge of accessibility standards, responsive design best practices, and security compliance (where relevant).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to ambiguity and change.
- Experience in regulated or government environments (desirable).
- Knowledge of DDaT capability frameworks (desirable).
- Understanding of SI Digital's business context and technology landscape (desirable)

Automation Test Lead - £70k - Hybrid (1 day per week in the office) - London
This role isn’t eligible for visa sponsorship, and you’ll need to be able to commute to London once a week.
La Fosse has partnered with a legal organisation to recruit an Automation Test Lead. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of the testing strategy, drive best practices, and play a key role in shaping the organisation’s automation capability.
Key Requirements:
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining frameworks using JavaScript and TypeScript
- Automation testing experience with Cypress or Playwright
- Background in back-end/data-focused projects, with the ability to drive data testing strategies.
- Experience with API testing tools, such as Postman or REST-assured
- Experience leading and managing QA Engineers within a team
- Strong working knowledge of CI/CD tools, including Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience working/Testing with AI tools
