My client is a fast growing and ambitious company
They now require a Material Testing Technician to join their team on a full time, permanent basis, working a minimum of 40 hours per week with plenty of overtime available.
Due to the nature of the work, you do need to be flexible to work weekends and nights as required.
Core hours are Monday - Friday (Apply online only)
Responsibilities include:
- Operating semi-automated and automated lab equipment li>Following established protocols, work instructions, scheduled tasks and activities independently.
- Perform in-process testing to assure batches meet specification.
- Troubleshooting of processes, procedures and product issues.
- Balance multiple tasks and prioritise critical tasks.
- Manage and implement preventative and corrective actions.
- Update standard operating procedures and work instructions for processes.
- Follow all health and safety measures in place, and ensure team members do the same.
- Collaborate, support and consult with other team members as necessary.
Essential Experience:
- Site testing experience of asphalt/tarmac/quarry products
- Construction Materials Testing experience
- CSCS Card
- Degree within science or engineering.
- Previous laboratory or manufacturing experience.
- Understanding of safe working practice in a laboratory environment.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft packages.
- Driving licence
Salary: Negotiable, dependant on experience

You'll be working for a national, but family owned aggregates organisation who do everything from quarrying stone to pouring concrete and they are searching for an Asphalt Testing Technician in and around the Norwich area. This is an 18-24 month Fixed Term Contract however there is opportunity for the role to become permanent.
What’s the package?
Circa £34k per annum
25 days AL plus bank holidays

If you are located outside of area, hotel / food will be fully paid for!

What will you be doing?
Working in a lab environment you’ll be using machines to test the strength of asphalt and other aggregate samples and recording the results.
You’ll need to be very experienced in asphalt testing already, being able to hit the ground running is key. A full UK driving license is required.
Detail and accuracy are essential, the results you record have big implications for safety and profits.
If there’s a problem, you need to be able to communicate it accurately to managers. Can you communicate in detail?

Responsibilities will include:
- Assuming responsibility for safety of self and others whilst at work, ensuring all requirements as laid down in the company's policy are implemented to fulfil legislative requirements li>Performing a range of Analytical and Microbiological analysis on Finished Product and In Process samples
- Interpreting results and instigating appropriate action, including out of spec reports
- Calibrating analytical equipment as required

Ideal industry experience: food, chemicals, petro-chemicals
A biotechnology, microbiology or food science degree is ideal but not essential.

Our well established client is looking for a Lab Technician for a six month period.
This role will be working within the laboratory Team reporting to the Laboratory Team Leader, and will involve testing in accordance with the Quality Management System and adherence to the appropriate Standard Test Methods or procedures.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting timely and accurate testing as requested and then the data will be reported in the appropriate format. You will also be responsible for maintaining archived records and product information. You must have effective communication skills and be prepared to be flexible to support changing business needs and also be able to use Microsoft Office.
The hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 36.5 hours per week.
Please note this is a six month contract.
