Job Description:
Successful and long-standing Groundworks & Civil Engineering contractor require an additional SETTING OUT ENGINEER to join their team, following a period of expansion. Our client has a solid pipeline of projects and a growing team, and the successful SITE ENGINEER will have the opportunity to take on managerial responsibility, should that be a route that interests them. This position will be based in the Central Belt and applicants should be able to demonstrate relevant experience.
Role & Responsibilities:
- To deliver setting-out works on ongoing contracts, ensuring that they operate within cost, productivity, Quality and Health, Safety and Environment targets.
- Ensure contracts are delivered safely on time, within budget and to programme.
- Maintain a good relationship with clients to avoid disputes.
- Have a high level of commercial awareness related to the works.
- Assure that all work is carried out to company safety, environmental, and Quality standards and to regularly communicate with staff and operatives.
- Carry out Safety Audits as required by line management.
- Ensure that all operations carried out within your area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for safety of visitors, other members of staff and yourself.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering projects.
- Relevant Civil Engineering Qualification (HNC and upwards).
- Strong understanding of Groundworks.
- Experience and understanding of how to use modern setting out equipment.
- Appropriate knowledge of health and safety polices.
- Have good working knowledge of IT systems, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Practice of prioritising time critical work.
- Excellent communication and liaison skills.

We are looking to strengthen our Construction team with a Setting Out Engineer in the Anglian Region on a permanent basis
What will you be doing as our new Site Engineer?
Our site engineers play a critical part to successful deliver of our projects. You'll be managing the day-to-day quality assurance, including surveying, setting out duties, quality checks and approvals. You'll also be assisting the site management teams with all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management.
Key responsibilities:
Day to day site quality assurance, including surveying, setting out duties, quality checks and approvals.
Supporting the Site Manager to liaise with the Engineering and Integration team to resolve conflicts and ensure work is carried out in line with specifications and drawings.
Assisting the site management teams with all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management, liaising with commercial, procurement and planning teams and supply chain management.
Supporting the Site Manager in calling off materials, stock control etc. and liaising with procurement team to ensure orders are not exceeded without authority.
Highlight any areas of concern before they become an issue.
Do the right thing to ensure programme, quality and cost are delivered.
Always explore alternatives to identify better ways of delivery the need.
Look to minimise waste by ordering the required materials to optimise project performance.
In all activities strive to minimise capital carbon through innovation, substitution and eliminations.
About The Candidate:
You will be able to demonstrate experience of being part of large-scale infrastructure programmes of work, the ability to plan ahead and ideally experience of Temporary Works supervision or lifting supervision, however that is not essential. You should have a proactive approach to resolving unexpected technical difficulties, with a can-do attitude and enthusiasm to innovate and get the job done and a desire to pursue a career in construction.

Your new company are a large Civil Engineering contractor, who operate extensively across the South West and Wales. They specialise in Highways, 278 Works, and Traffic Management systems.
This opportunity is in relation to a large Framework development, which my client will be working on for Bristol City Council.
The bulk of duties will include Setting Out with Robotic Kit (one man), CAD, As-built Drawings, QA and Surveys.
An Engineering Degree / Qualification and CSCS would be essential.
My client are happy to provide the Robotic Kit if required, or have this supplied by the individual. However pay rates will be dependant on this.
