We are seeking a dedicated Traffic Engineering Clerk of Works to join a Highways Team on a contract basis. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality highway construction and maintenance works across our network.
In this position, you will:
·Inspect works on site and supervise contractors
·Monitor compliance with specifications, standards, and health & safety requirements
·Ensure all works-planned or reactive-are completed to the required standard
·Identify defects and ensure prompt and appropriate remedial actions are taken
·Provide technical feedback on repairs and workmanship
About You:
We are looking for candidates with experience supervising Traffic, Road Safety, and Highway Engineering schemes. However, we also welcome applications from construction supervisors with relevant technical knowledge and a strong background in quality control and health and safety on site.
You will need to demonstrate:
·Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with residents, members of the public, contractors, and consultants

Optioneering, concept, preliminary and detail design associated with all aspects of highway improvement schemes
Contract preparation
Active travel design

**Job Responsibilities:**
To be commercially aware and able to lead a team of 3-5 engineers and technicians, to programme workloads and successfully deliver projects to time, budget and quality
Provide wide ranging Highways and Traffic engineering design and project management expertise to delivery multi-disciplined schemes and manage small and medium work packages and projects
Interface with the Client as necessary to deliver the work
Experience in the preparation of contract drawings and specifications and writing contract documents and technical reports
Responsibility for managing the workloads and technical oversight of small team of junior engineers and technicians
Coaching, mentoring and developing the team
Being Project Manager for multiple projects while delivering on specific project outcomes in relation to time, budget and quality required
Reviewing of project deliverables before they are issued
Be part of a bidding team when required and contribute to work winning and to undertake business development to win new business
