Traffic Engineering Clerk of Works
We are seeking a dedicated Traffic Engineering Clerk of Works to join a Highways Team on a contract basis. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality highway construction and maintenance works across our network.
In this position, you will:
·Inspect works on site and supervise contractors
·Monitor compliance with specifications, standards, and health & safety requirements
·Ensure all works-planned or reactive-are completed to the required standard
·Identify defects and ensure prompt and appropriate remedial actions are taken
·Provide technical feedback on repairs and workmanship
About You:
We are looking for candidates with experience supervising Traffic, Road Safety, and Highway Engineering schemes. However, we also welcome applications from construction supervisors with relevant technical knowledge and a strong background in quality control and health and safety on site.
You will need to demonstrate:
·Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with residents, members of the public, contractors, and consultants

The Liverpool office has an established track record of successfully delivering road schemes and works closely with other disciplines from Bridges, Geotechnical, Environment, Transport Planning and Development Sectors. **Job Responsibilities:**
To be commercially aware and able to lead a team of 3-5 engineers and technicians, to programme workloads and successfully deliver projects to time, budget and quality
Provide wide ranging Highways and Traffic engineering design and project management expertise to delivery multi-disciplined schemes and manage small and medium work packages and projects
Interface with the Client as necessary to deliver the work
Experience in the preparation of contract drawings and specifications and writing contract documents and technical reports
Responsibility for managing the workloads and technical oversight of small team of junior engineers and technicians
Coaching, mentoring and developing the team
Being Project Manager for multiple projects while delivering on specific project outcomes in relation to time, budget and quality required
Reviewing of project deliverables before they are issued
Be part of a bidding team when required and contribute to work winning and to undertake business development to win new business

Our Streets Team have a vacancy in our central Manchester office for an **Associate Director** with relevant experience in leading the delivery of a broad range of traffic and highway engineering projects and being responsible for work winning activities. The successful candidate will share our ethos of developing impactful design solutions and delivering high levels of service to assist with the growth of our Manchester and Northern Streets business by enhancing existing and developing new client relationships.
The Streets team provide feasibility, concept, preliminary and detailed design, community engagement, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of multi-discipline transportation and urban realm projects. You will be joining a strong team who are recognised as market leaders in the transportation sector including in active travel, public transport, bus priority and general traffic engineering. Our Streets Team have a vacancy in our central Manchester office for an **Associate Director** with relevant experience in leading the delivery of a broad range of traffic and highway engineering projects and being responsible for work winning activities. The successful candidate will share our ethos of developing impactful design solutions and delivering high levels of service to assist with the growth of our Manchester and Northern Streets business by enhancing existing and developing new client relationships.
The Streets team provide feasibility, concept, preliminary and detailed design, community engagement, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of multi-discipline transportation and urban realm projects. You will be joining a strong team who are recognised as market leaders in the transportation sector including in active travel, public transport, bus priority and general traffic engineering. More than that, we are an approachable, supporting and encouraging team who strive to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career. In addition to delivering work within the local office, the role will involve working closely with other AECOM teams across the northern region and across the wider UK & Ireland business, with opportunity for international working.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Client relationship building** - develop sound client relationships, being alert to commercial opportunities, identifying emerging opportunities and developing strategies to fully exploit them.
+ **Work winning** - prepare detailed proposals, client briefs and fee proposals and contribute to or lead bids. Working with colleagues to deliver marketing and business development objectives in both the local region and nationally.
+ **Project leadership** - following successful accreditation on the AECOM project management system, act as a Project Director and Project Manager including monitoring financial performance and key performance indicators. Comprehensive training on AECOM's project management system will be provided.
+ **Technical leadership** - ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.
+ **Team management** - be a pro-active Line Manager, managing career progression of line reports. This includes supporting and monitoring team skills and ensure they are up to date with current best practice, techniques, and innovation.
+ **Team leadership** - support the Streets North senior management team, including deputising for the Streets Manchester Team Leader as required. This also includes pro-actively supporting recruitment activities to grow the team.
+ **Internal relationship building** - establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams across AECOM's business lines.

- Ensure that daily vehicle checks are carried out – to ensure cleanliness and tidiness of vehicle and the safety of the driver and passenger
- Promote positive company image whilst at work (via wearing of company clothing, attitude, and site cleanliness)

- Assist the public, directing them through safe site lines when required
- Ascertain when management intervention is required
GTM Golden Rules to be followed
- Only undertake Traffic Management activities that you have the qualification to undertake (LANTRA)
- All Traffic Management setups must be compliant with guidance and legislation (Red Book, Chapter 8, ARTSM etc.)
- Regularly check your site to ensure it remains compliant
- Report any unsafe acts and conditions, and rectify immediately if safe and competent to do so
- Drive safely and avoid distractions. Keep within the speed limit and drive with due care and attention to prevent road traffic collisions
- Park vehicles safely, taking consideration of members of the public and other road users
- Five-point PPE to be worn on site at all times
Experience and Qualifications
- Lantra 12d accreditation as a minimum TTMBC, 12d (M1-M2)
- Lantra 12 a/b accreditation, IPV driver, foreman advantageous
- Provide evidence that you understand the differences between Chapter 8 and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works (red book) and how these apply
- Full valid UK driving licence
- Be able to read and understand CAD drawings, in relation to the works required
- Preferable to have mechanical ability in relation to Traffic Lights
