We are looking for a Principal HVDC Transformer Design Engineer (Electrical) to join the HVDC Transformer Centre of Excellence in Stafford, UK, bringing deep technical knowledge in transformer electrical and mechanical design, typically gained through 10/15 years of experience in the field.
In this key role, you will ensure that our transformer products are developed in accordance with the highest standards in design, quality, and manufacturing. Reporting directly to the Site Leader, you will be responsible for identifying and mitigating design risks early in the process, ensuring robust and reliable solutions for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) applications that support the global green energy transition.

Pyroban is the the world leader in ATEX hazard protection engineering, due to the success of the business, we are now looking for an Electro Mech Design Engineer for a 3 month period to design components and assemblies to be incorporated in systems, such as engine packages and material handling machines, such as fork lift trucks.

You will have experience of mechanical assemblies, complex fabrications, motors, shaft/bearing arrangements and rotating seals, and knowledge of electrical design, such as wiring diagrams, although this is a small proportion of the work.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings as required using Autodesk
  • li>Interpret customer requirements to determine the best and cost-effective design strategy.
  • Interpret legal requirements via standards and internal design guides to apply them during design to achieve designs compliant to current legislation. This may involve working with compliance engineers.
  • Work with applications engineers to ensure that components and assemblies work in a higher architecture.
  • Interact with all other departments to ensure projects run smoothly. This includes, hands-on problem resolving and project managing.
  • Follow, maintain and create written design procedures to optimize consistency and quality of designs.
  • Produce technical and justification reports and presentations.

  • BTEC, HND, or Degree in Engineering.

  • Working knowledge of GD&T

Adept Resourcing are delighted to be partnering with a world-renowned manufacturing business, assisting them in their search for a Design Engineer, to join their established team.

As a member of the Design team, you will be designing bespoke solutions for non-standard applications based on their standard product range.

The business are world-ranking specialists in the manufacturing, designing, and distributing precision engineered mechanical products. The company sets new industry standards in performance, reliability, cost and service.

The role:

  • Modification of standard products to suit non-standard equipment.
  • Bespoke product design, for non-standard applications and equipment
  • Design of special test equipment to suit specific applications
  • Creation of new stock codes and special bills of materials to aid administration
  • Daily liaison with internal and external customers (including end users, sales engineers, and distributors from the UK and overseas)
  • Daily liaison with workshops and inspection departments on engineering issues for both standard and special products; solving problems and agreeing concessions
  • Assisting the Technical department with special product enquiries
  • Providing assistance to the assembly team on testing issues for standard and special products

Required experience:

  • Qualified to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Alternatively, suitable business/industry experience.
  • CAD Literate
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • IT literate
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to build relationships across numerous departments
