Location: Dorchester (Hybrid)
Contract Type: Temporary
Salary: 13.26 per hour
Hours : 37 hours per week

Do you have a keen eye for detail, great communication skills and an interest in public transport? We're looking for an enthusiastic and methodical individual to join the Dorset Travel team as a Public Transport Support Officer.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that makes a real difference to the lives of Dorset's residents and visitors. Working mainly from home, you'll play a key role in helping keep Dorset's public transport services running smoothly and reliably.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Public Transport Support Officer, you'll:
- Keep our public transport systems and data accurate and up to date.
- Work with bus and community transport providers on routes, timetables, fares and eligibility.
- Manage data across Real Time Passenger Information systems, bus service registrations and bus stop registers.
- Create clear and accessible service information for passengers.
- Support the wider team with projects and day-to-day tasks.
- Help integrate community and public transport information into Dorset's wider transport offering.
We'd love to hear from you if you are:
- Confident using Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Organised, methodical and able to follow processes carefully.
- Good with numbers and enjoy working with digital maps.
- An excellent communicator, both in writing and over the phone/Teams.
- Able to manage your time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Flexible, adaptable and comfortable working remotely as part of a dispersed team.
- Interested in how public transport can improve people's everyday lives.

My client is looking for a Principal Consultant to join their team - a leader with strong technical expertise, project management skills, and a passion for public transport.
The Role
As a Principal Consultant, you will:
·Lead and manage multi-disciplinary public transport projects, delivering high-quality outcomes for both public and private sector clients.
·Develop and maintain strong client relationships - identifying new opportunities and securing repeat business.
·Analyse large-scale datasets, using tools such as GIS and other data science techniques, to generate insights that inform strategy and decision-making.
·Guide, coach, and inspire junior colleagues within the team.
·Contribute to business development efforts, securing ~£50k-£100k of new work annually.
·Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and through knowledge-sharing (e.g. internal training, publications, presentations).
What they are looking for
Essential:
·Proven track record of delivering successful public transport projects in the UK.
·Strong data analysis skills, with experience in handling large datasets and using advanced GIS tools.
·Experience managing complex projects to time and budget.
·A deep understanding of UK transport policy, including practical experience with bus operator data.
·Excellent client-facing and stakeholder engagement skills.
·Ability to identify commercial opportunities and help secure new work.
·Strong report writing and presentation skills.
·An undergraduate degree in a related discipline.
Desirable:
·A Master's degree in a relevant field.
·TPP or similar professional qualification.
·Active membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. TPS, CIHT, ICE, CILT).
