KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure the safe and efficient running of the transport department across our operating sites in East Anglia.
- Ensuring our fleet is legally compliant, meets audit standards and transport regulations through regular monitoring of all fleet systems, defect reporting, MOT’s, Servicing, Insurance, Tax, driver hours, license checks etc.
- Ensuring all Transport Systems are maintained and utilised to produce accurate, up-to-date and meaningful information.
- Utilising and analysing relevant data from Transport Systems to identify issues and proactively drive performance through the transport team members.
- To monitor the performance of the transport team against agreed accountabilities and responsibilities, identify and implement training and development requirements and actively coach and mentor the team to meet the required performance standards.
- Overall fleet asset management to make recommendations as required to ensure current and future business requirements are met.
- Optimisation of the fleet to achieve continuous improvement, drive performance and improve efficiency and cost savings.
- Monitor investigations and incidents to understand the root cause and provide guidance to the transport team and other departments to ensure corrective and preventative actions have been implemented, solutions identified or escalated where necessary.
- Provide leadership to our teams by promoting TQ values and a positive culture, challenging poor behaviour and fostering good employee relations through fair consistent and effective people management.
- Monitor and liaises with maintenance providers to maintain fleet roadworthiness, minimize downtime and reduce financial cost where possible.

Job Description
Working in our rapidly growing Regional Service Centre, managing a significant transport operation, we require a people-focused Transport Assistant Site Manager to lead the transport team.
You will seek cost savings against budget where appropriate and manage yard activities in order to achieve the required high standards in all areas.
The overall aim of the Transport Assistant Site Manager is to ensure the traffic operation runs smoothly, accurately and cost effectively 24 hours, 7 days per week. Ensuring that all legal regulations are met so that the company's ability to carry out its business is not affected, the Transport Manager will have a sound knowledge of Road Transport Regulations and manage all activities to ensure compliance.
The role requires an effective people manager to drive performance by monitoring KPI's and leading by example. This includes the direct management of a number of Team Managers, who in turn manage large numbers of drivers. You will report directly into the Regional Service Centre
Manager and deputise for them as site manager, when required and provide management support to the warehouse team. The Transport Assistant Site Manager will develop positive relationships with other members of the Management team, colleagues and wider business.
About you:
You will be an experienced Transport Manager or Site Manager within a large corporate distribution or logistics environment and be able to demonstrate the ability to manage a large operation in a fast-paced environment. You will possess excellent people management skills, having proven ability to manage complex employment related issues and challenging situations, in addition to coaching and developing your team.
The successful candidate must possess a sound knowledge of Road Transport Regulations and be a national CPC licence holder, ensuring that 'O' Licence requirements are adhered to. You will have strong experience in managing large Transport teams and have worked in a similar position within a retail and/or distribution environment and possess a good standard of education.
