SALARY – £38,000 – £45,000, dependent on experience
My client provides specialist logistics and distribution solutions across the UK. They are looking for a Transport Manager to join their team in Slough on a permanent basis.
The Transport Manager will ideally have the following attributes:
- At least 3 years’ experience in a Transport Management role within logistics, haulage or distribution
- Strong knowledge of driver hours, Working Time Directive and vehicle compliance
- Experience managing a fleet and ensuring maintenance schedules are met
- Good knowledge of route planning and cost optimisation
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient using transport management software (TMS) and MS Office
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team of drivers and support staff
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach
The Transport Manager role will involve:
- Overseeing the daily operations of the transport department
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant transport legislation and regulations
- Managing driver performance, training and development
- Planning and optimising routes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Monitoring fleet maintenance schedules and liaising with service providers
- Handling customer service issues related to deliveries and collections
- Analysing performance data and preparing reports for senior management
- Implementing process improvements to enhance service levels
- Working closely with other departments to ensure smooth operations
