What you'll be doing:
As a Gas Turbine Technician, you'll be responsible for Level 1 to 3 maintenance activities on the RTM322 engine , either at our Fareham facility or occasionally at customer sites. Windtechs provides a range of services to clients, including annual and intermediate services on original equipment, manufacturer (OEM) factory manual specification annual inspections, major component replacement, including all electrical, mechanical and hydraulic works, optimum sourcing of replacement parts, oil sampling and analysis and high voltage (HV) switching.

Job purpose
The role of a Turbine O&M Technician would be to support the Turbine O&M Team in the delivery specific projects and the successful candidate will be required to provide technical assistance to help resolve ongoing issues and/or implement improvements. We are looking for candidates who have a technical background in mechanical and/or electrical systems, preferably in a turbine discipline, and with good analytical fault-finding capabilities on Electrical, Mechanical & Hydraulic systems.
Key Accountabilities
The role would suit an experienced Wind Turbine Technician who has aspirations in further developing their own capabilities in the delivery of high-quality maintenance activities and willing to contribute positively to the continued development of the business.
Be a good communicator both written & verbally and be proficient in customer interface at site level and in pre task co-ordination. The suitable candidate will be comfortable in preparing Risk Assessments, Method statements and other client required procedures and be willing to adapt a high level of Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental awareness. A flexible approach to work will be required as travel within the UK & Ireland will be necessary depending on the project needs.
Other areas of knowledge would be advantageous, but not essential as training will be provided for the right
candidate which will include:
• Working knowledge of gearbox inspections

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities:**
+ Read blueprints, schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures.
+ Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and other drawings in industrial establishments.
+ Dismantle and assemble machinery and equipment using a variety of hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
+ Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on power tools, hand tools and training equipment.
+ Move machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks.
+ Align machinery and equipment using hoists, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, dial indicators and/or laser alignment equipment.
+ Perform machining and welding operations for making various parts for lab and shop training equipment
+ Perform material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules, calipers, protractors, and torque wrenches.
+ Responsible for shipping and receiving all major pieces for T&DC, plus all shipping, receiving, inventory, and control of tools, equipment and supplies
+ Determine equipment specifications and prepare parts lists for purchasing, consisting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic devices as needed to complete assigned projects.
+ Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
+ Perform other duties as assigned
+ Travel extensively (internationally and domestically)
+ Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
**Required Qualifications & Experience** :

Region NCE > SBU NCE Service > Inch Cape
At almost 1.1 gigawatts, Inch Cape is one of Scotland's largest Offshore Wind Farms approximately 15km off the coast of Angus in the North Sea firth. Based on the Port in Montrose, Scotland you will be working in the Service department for Vestas who are the OEM and responsible for the maintenance and repair of 72 x VMW offshore wind turbines.
You will be part of a team of technicians working throughout the region responsible for the maintenance and repair of the wind turbines. You will be required to develop a detailed knowledge of our wind turbines to enable you to perform daily maintenance and other field service-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Carry out periodic service inspections in accordance with Vestas's specifications
- Component replacement (both electrical and mechanical) and troubleshooting on the systems
- Maintaining and upgrading Service activities & creating follow-up orders
- Ensuring a safe work practice by acting in compliance with Vestas HSE requirements
- Ensuring own P.P.E checks are done, and monthly check sheets are logged
- Working with both the other technicians and supervisors in the field, whilst also having regular contact with the office-based staff
- Registration of time and material consumption in Vestas systems (e.g., SAP)
Qualifications
- Completion of an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship or practical experience in relevant fields
- Technical education (Electrical/Mechanical) NVQ/HNC/HND/BTEC
- Previous accreditation as an AT/CT under WTSR would be advantageous
- Ability to read/interpret technical drawings to support fault-finding and/or maintenance activities
- Good knowledge of Microsoft products (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams) and general IT, possibly with SAP experience
- Fluent English
- Full Driving License

Additional information
Based at the Port in Montrose, you will work on a 2-week on/2-weeks off rotation, travelling by Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) to the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm daily. For the first 18th months travel to different locations will take place due to training purposes. In 2015, Deutsche Windtechnik entered the UK market and now has over 640 WTG's/700MW under Service & Maintenance contracts, our aim being to expand further into the onshore market. Deutsche Windtechnik Ltd's head office is located in Livingston.
You will work closely with all departments in the UK and other group companies to ensure we are providing a level of service expected from a market leader. Although the majority of your time will be spent working in the UK you may be expected to spend some periods working with colleagues in Germany and in other DWT group countries.

Role Clarification
The wind turbine technician will be responsible for the routine preventative maintenance on wind turbine, mechanical, electrical, gearbox and hydraulic systems. Unscheduled maintenance and carry out retrofits along with emergency breakdown and major component exchanges are also a key responsibility.
A wind turbine technician is responsible for the following:
- The provision of preventative and corrective maintenance on onshore wind turbines as per DWT instructions
- Completion of all relevant paperwork, including work order cards, checklists, AWPs etc.
- Lead a team of technicians ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed
- Replacement of major turbine components e.g. generators and gearboxes
- Troubleshoot on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Assist in all areas of site operations
- Provide safe access and egress to all people in the work party
- Establish and maintain general safety in the system
- Comply with customer site rules
- Report all incidents and occurrences as per Deutsche Windtechnik company Health and Safety policy
- Be willing to be trained and conduct statutory inspections as and when required
- Partake in rota for on call cover on weekends and bank holidays
As a minimum the candidate should have:
- Relevant formal qualifications minimum SVQ/ NVQ level 3 (electrical, mechanical etc) and/or comprehensive experience in a relevant industry
- Ideally two years of hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical experience in an industrial environment e.g. wind farms, power stations, industrial process plant or similar heavy engineering maintenance environments
- Valid driving licence
Candidates will preferably have:
- Valid health and safety certificates
- IT proficient on MS Suite
