About the Role
We're a busy, fast-moving, creative company with multiple projects in development and production. We're looking for someone to join our team in an Assistant Production Finance Manager role, helping to keep projects and the business running smoothly from a financial perspective. This is a hands-on position, working closely with producers and the wider operations team to ensure budgets are accurate, costs are tracked, and processes run efficiently.
We'd love to have someone on board who has experience in production finance, but we are open to training someone who has broad finance experience and is excited about the opportunity to work in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Production Support
+ Handle day-to-day finance tasks such as accounts payable/receivable, payroll, credit card reconciliations, procurement card reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and month-end activities.
+ Assist in preparing production budgets alongside producers and track spend against budget throughout the production cycle.
+ Maintain cost reports, cashflows, and forecasts, highlighting potential overspend early.
+ Process cast/crew payroll, supplier invoices, and expenses accurately and on time.
+ Provide support to Production Accountants as needed.
Reporting & Analysis
+ Prepare monthly management accounts and project-specific reports.
+ Contribute to cost reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
+ Support reporting for funders, broadcasters, and public bodies (e.g., NI Screen, Sony).
+ Assist with post-production wrap and final cost reporting.
+ Help with IR35-related reporting.
Compliance & Audit
+ Ensure day-to-day compliance with tax obligations, funding requirements, and audit processes.
+ Assist with government returns and external audits.
+ Support reporting on sustainability/greenhouse gas requirements when needed.
Process & Team Support
+ Help improve finance processes and systems for smoother operations.
+ Provide guidance to junior team members or freelancers when required.
+ Support producers and development staff with financial queries.
Skills & Experience
Essential
+ Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, Accounting Technician) or equivalent experience.
+ Around 2-3 years' experience in a finance role, ideally in a project-based or media environment.
+ Good working knowledge of UK tax, PAYE, IR35, VAT, and accounting standards.
+ Strong budgeting and cost-tracking skills.
+ Good communicator-able to explain finance clearly to non-finance colleagues.
+ Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented.
+ Ability to manage multiple deadlines and productions.
Desirable
+ Experience with production finance/accounting tools (e.g., Just TV or similar) but not essential
+ Experience with funding reports (e.g., NI Screen, HMRC tax credits).
+ Familiarity with industry contracts, union agreements, or freelancer payroll.

You will be a core member of the wider finance team and play a key part in supporting and strengthening the Finance and Accounting function. Role and Responsibilities:

  • Own and perform monthly close procedures and maintain adequate accounting records.
  • Full responsibility to prepare Monthly/Quarterly P&L and Balance sheet, analysis and commentary.
  • Review, analyze and reconcile data to ensure the accuracy of the company’s financial reporting.

  • Review expense reports with office manager
  • Liaising with commercial, corporate, legal teams in NY, Toronto and UK.
  • Responsible for marketing and tradeshow lines in Rights business P&L
  • Prepare overheads for forecasting and budgeting across rights and K&F production business
  • Other ad-hoc project duties as required by Director of Finance

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-2 years PQE (ACCA, CIMA)
  • Strong Microsoft excel skills – vlookups, pivot tables
  • Prior experience with ERP and FP&A/management reporting software and rights management database software is a plus (e.g. Netsuite, Workday Adaptive, Rightsline)
  • Prior experience dealing with a global head office/parent advantageous and dealing with multi currencies
  • Familiarity with tax withholding practices
  • Proven capacity to contribute positively to team work
  • Ability to both follow direction and work independently to effectively manage workload and prioritize activities
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written as direct communication with clients and liaising with finance team in Canada.
  • Experience with IFRS accounting
  • Previous experience in distribution, television or other entertainment media is an advantage.

Sole Legal Counsel – Podcasting Producer – London EMEA Legal is exclusively retained to source a first Legal hire for a specialist in media production, marketing, and monetization. They are known for being a "next-generation media company" that offers a one-stop shop for creating and distributing content for global talent, brands, broadcasters, and rights holders. They have also recently merged with other London-based production companies, to create a "podcasting supergroup." They operate several content labels under their umbrella, each with a different focus in entertainment and televised podcasts, fiction and factual storytelling and dedicated to sports content. This position will provide critical legal counsel, support contract negotiations, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate legal risks. You will work closely with both internal teams and external partners to drive business objectives while safeguarding all legal and commercial interests. This role is based in central London and requires you to be in the office three days a week, reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer. Key Responsibilities Legal Leadership & Strategy Provide strategic guidance on all legal matters impacting content production and distribution. Advise on all legal matters affecting the business and, when required, instruct outside specialist legal counsel. Develop and implement legal strategies, policies, and best practices to safeguard the company’s commercial interests. Monitor emerging legal trends and industry developments, advising the business on new risks and opportunities. Contract Negotiation & Management Negotiate, draft, and review a wide range of commercial contracts, including production agreements, talent contracts, licensing deals, distribution agreements, and co-production arrangements. Manage the structuring and negotiation of licensing and content acquisition deals, ensuring alignment with business goals. Advise on the terms of joint ventures, partnerships, and other strategic business relationships. Resolve disputes and handle matters related to potential litigation with clients, vendors, and external parties. Intellectual Property & Rights Management Provide expert legal counsel on intellectual property matters, including copyright, trademarks, and related rights. Oversee the clearance and management of IP rights across all production projects. Collaborate with production and development teams to secure necessary rights for content creation, production, and distribution. Skills & Experience Legal Expertise: Significant experience in content production across various platforms (network & streaming TV, social and digital channels, and audio), content and IP distribution, and media law. Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the media industry, including production processes, distribution models, licensing, and international sales. Negotiation: Demonstrated expertise in negotiating complex commercial agreements and resolving contractual disputes. Risk Management: Strong ability to assess and manage legal, commercial, and reputational risks. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders. Qualifications Qualified lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience with at least 5 years of experience in legal and business affairs within the television or media sector.
