About the Role
Multi-Year Outage Project Lead
An exciting and rewarding role has arisen for the role of Multi-Year Outage Lead at our Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station in Suffolk.
Sizewell B is currently the UK’s only Pressurised Water Reactor. We are designed to run at full period for a period of 18 months and then shutdown to refuel and complete essential maintenance, this is known as an Outage. The Outage Department prepares, plans and delivers these multi-million pound projects to ensure that Sizewell B delivers maximum power output and continues to provide low-carbon electricity to millions of homes and businesses across the UK.
The Opportunity
The Multi-Year Outage Group is responsible for driving the long-term strategy for outage planning and for preparing outages on a 15-year look ahead. As Multi-Year Project Lead, you will work cross-functionally with the other station departments to manage the long-term strategy and planning of Sizewell B outages, as well as medium term outage preparations. You will be engaging with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to the station, to ensure our outage goals are met, and scope, budget and duration requirements are optimised. You may be required to work a non-standard shift pattern during the outage, which may include nights if required.
Pay, benefits and culture
We offer a competitive salary, with a permanent contract under the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The salary range associated with this role is between £45,461 - £95,993. You will be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.
Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.
We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
What you will be doing
The Multi-Year Outage Project Lead is responsible for preparing outages up to 15 years ahead, including:
- Influencing scope optimisations and maintenance strategies
- Analysing and optimising costs and durations
- Identifying critical path activities and significant interfaces to allow early problem resolution and effective business planning
- Working with stakeholders from other Station departments to define the significant scope, identify risks and their business impacts, and develop mitigation and optimisation strategies
- Producing and Updating our Scope intentions, risk logs and budget planning for each of the upcoming Outages.
Who you are
We would love to hear from you if you have Project Management experience or experience of leading a multi-discipline team in a delivery environment. Some outage knowledge or experience will also be an advantage. Great communication skills, attention to detail with a calm, measured approach, coupled with the ability to effectively prioritise are all essential. You should have the enthusiasm, drive, ownership and ability to facilitate change, for which excellent interpersonal skills are paramount. This will also mean you should have the ability to manage cross-functional working groups, encouraging a team ethos to help develop and deliver effective work programmes. Discretion when handling sensitive information is important, alongside the ability to challenge and adopt a questioning attitude to ensure that safety remains our overriding priority.
Experience working within the nuclear industry is essential.
As a minimum, you will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent) and holding a relevant Degree may be an advantage.
