This role is ideal for someone highly organised, detail-focused, and confident in working with data, particularly in Microsoft Excel, which will be used extensively on a daily basis.

Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to underwrite and process all new home finance applications from receipt of application through to offer. Manage conversations and communications with brokers and internal colleagues effectively to ensure overall positive customer experience. The incumbent will be required to ensure service levels are maintained whilst being mindful of the Credit Risk Governance frameworks in operation within the Bank, such as KYC (Know Your Customer) and Fraud Awareness.
Please note - the position is office based with a Hybrid Working policy with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days a week.

- End to end case ownership to ensure overall positive broker / customer outcome.
- Assess and underwrite new business cases in a pragmatic manner and within Credit Policy KYC guidelines to support the aim of the Bank to be recognised as a Specialist Financer by brokers and customers.
- Demonstrate a desire to underwrite cases by, where appropriate, suggesting alternative options on how a case may be acceptable whilst still fully complying with Credit Policy and KYC governance.
- Compose Finance rationale that ensures Finance decision is clearly structured and documented covering both credit and CDD (KYC/Anti Money Laundering) in line with policies and any potential risks mitigated.
- Work cases in an efficient manner utilising the processes and policies in place to contribute to the business meeting agreed Service Level Agreements both internally and externally.

London
The Underwriter is responsible for underwriting bridging finance applications where the company has issued initial terms. The Underwriter must work together with the other members of the Underwriting team to ensure that loans are processed in accordance with the company's underwriting manual and lending policy.
The Underwriter must use their skill and experience to approve those loans which are deemed acceptable and reject any which do not meet the criteria or where the Underwriter does not believe the borrower will be able to repay.

- Manage a pipeline of bridging cases and prioritise accordingly
- Underwrite bridging loan applications within company lending criteria by making quality lending decisions
- Be vigilant when working on cases and refer where necessary to the appropriate person
- Maintain a high level of communication at all times with interested parties including brokers, applicants, surveyors and solicitors
- Maintain a high level of customer service with those internally and externally
- Work closely with other departments within the company including sales, compliance, finance and collections
