Reporting directly to the Site Manager, the Production Unit Manager is a key role on the Wrexham Site. Lead production for the site, responsible for all aspects of operations, including HSE, achieving plant metrics, quality, cost control, people engagement and development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
**Candidate Profile**
Mid-career with minimum 5 years managing operations in a technically demanding environment (not
FMCG). Career experience will preferably be within a regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, medical, pharma)
Candidate must have aspirations to achieve at least Site Director role
Candidate must be degree qualified in science or engineering discipline
Candidate must have proven track record in safety leadership, volume manufacture and must have
knowledge and direct experience of world class manufacturing methods (lean, six sigma, TPM)
**Major Responsibilities**
Safety -
Ensures plant operations are conducted in a manner that maximizes the safety of the employees and surrounding community by complying with regulated standards and requirements to ensure targets are met and that an injury-free workplace is maintained. Responsible for the HSE performance of his or her operation which covers employees, equipment, materials and methods. Carries out the detailed requirements of the HSE Management System. Leads HSE Area Improvement Teams and sponsors employee empowerment teams such as safety committee and ergonomics team. Conducts visible safety leadership activities. Ensures that all plant operations are carried out in full accordance with the Syensqo Employee Safety, Health & Environmental Handbook.
People Engagement and Development -
Ingrain Syensqo values through leading by example. Mentors and coaches team in leadership principles. Provides visible leadership and involves operators in improvement activities to grow skills and increase engagement. Manages team's performance to maximize results, increase job satisfaction and build overall leadership capabilities in preparation for future assignments.
Responsible for recruitment, disciplinary and performance management of team including operators.
Directly communicates with operators across all shifts to ensure a consistent message is given.
Quality -
Works with Quality Manager and Engineers to respond to all customer issues, quality escapes and other systemic quality issues. Supports teams in root cause analysis, and ensures clear quality related communications to operators.
Delivery -
Ensures on-time and on-quantity shipment of products that meets customer delivery
commitments. Ensure staffing matches forecasted machine demands. Pro-actively manage projects to improve OTIF performance.
Continuous Improvement/Productivity (Manufacturing Excellence) -
Sponsors productivity and waste improvement projects in continuous improvement activities through use of lean and various engagement tools, including kaizen, workout, 6S and applicable problem solving methodology tools.
Financial -
Responsible for delivering costs to budget and being able/willing to adapt quickly when trading conditions change

Project manage growth projects to deliver new products and volume to the site
