Job Description
TL;DR
Love video games? Love cutting shit-hot edits that actually hit? We’re looking for an experienced left-brain/right-brain creative who has the technical know-how to create high quality in-engine and in-game footage along with the creative talent required to edit it into scroll stopping content for trailers, social, and other bits and bobs. You’ll blend cinematic technical capture skills with sharp editing chops to create polished, compelling content that lands hard with the gaming community.
WHO ARE OTHER THINGS?
We’re a creative agency with a focus on the gaming and entertainment industries. We produce a lot of videos, websites, marketing and brand assets, and all the other creative bits in-between, for some of the world’s biggest gaming brands.
We’re called Other Things.
WHAT’S THE JOB?
You’ll be part cinematographer, part editor, turning raw gameplay, captures, and creative assets into scroll stopping content. One day you might be flying a virtual camera in Unreal Engine, framing the perfect action shot; the next you’re cutting together a slick trailer or hype reel for a big game launch, and everything in between - sometimes fast, always polished.
We want someone who gets how video works in the gaming space. You understand pace, rhythm, timing and what keeps a viewer watching. You’ll bring energy and creativity to every project, combining clever storytelling with clean production and a sharp eye for detail.
You’ll be working closely with our writers, designers, producers and clients - shaping content that gets seen by millions. You’ll also need to keep up with social trends, cultural moments, and what fans are actually watching.
You’ll know how to take compelling gameplay captures in both Unreal Engine and Unity, then edit them into content that hits hard online.
MORE DETAILS? AS BULLET POINTS?
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Capture gameplay footage: In-game cinematography experience, and knowing how to frame a shot, will be vital. Utilise game engines (Unreal Engine or Unity) for in-engine cinematic captures when required
- Edit a wide range of content: trailers, social edits, sizzles, explainers, hype videos, and more
- Cut footage from gameplay, interviews, live-action shoots or archive material and make it sing
- Problem solving technical and creative capture challenges
- Tailor edits for different platforms, with a hook first, social savvy mindset
- Bring fresh, relevant creative thinking to every brief - from concept to final delivery
- Work closely with creative leads, producers, and designers to keep content aligned and on-brand
- Stay on top of what’s trending in video content across gaming, football, and pop culture
- Ensure final exports are technically sound, beautifully presented, and ready for delivery
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A strong showreel or portfolio that shows range, creativity, and polish
- Expert level skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
- Experience with cinematic camera techniques in games
- Solid experience with Unreal Engine and Unity for in-engine capture
- Comfortable with both editing and in-game / in-engine capture
- Strong understanding of editing for social: hook first mindset, vertical video experience, fast paced storytelling
- Good sense of sound design, music sync and pace
- Able to work quickly and accurately under pressure (without sacrificing quality)
- Passionate about video games
- Excellent attention to detail and a love for good storytelling, even in short formats
- A good team player with a collaborative mindset
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Experience working with gaming brands
- Motion graphics skills
- Knowledge of templates, motion libraries or plug-ins to speed up workflows
- Familiarity with tools like Frame.io, Trello, Slack, Google Suite
- Basic colour grading or sound mix skills
- Any experience with 3D or animation
- Big bonus if you play and love football games
WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?
Apart from some cold, hard cash? You’ll be editing trailers, gameplay content, and hype pieces for some of the biggest names in gaming. You’ll work with a team that values creativity, clarity and clever ideas, and you’ll get to see your work out in the wild being enjoyed by millions. There’s room to experiment, room to level up, and space to bring your own spice box to the mix.
Rewarding projects, good people, proper pay.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?
Location: , Fully remote, hybrid and on-site at our Leeds city centre office all considered
Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Type: Permanent, full time
Pay: Competitive based on experience
