Key job responsibilities
Systems Developers are expected to develop best practices, refine operational procedures and constantly innovate proactively. About the team
Our Living Room organisation currently deploys its platform to more than 2000+ devices, ranging from televisions to consoles, set-top boxes and streaming sticks. Our mission is to build the best infrastructure systems and testing tools to improve the SDLC for developers building applications on living room devices. Our space is challenging, and there are no ready blueprints. To deliver this mission our team are constantly inventing state-of-the-art solutions that are creative and scalable.
As part of the team, you will learn and leverage the full Prime Video technical stack. Our main goal is to improve the SDLC for developers creating applications on the living room platform. Basic Qualifications
- Programming experience with Python preferred, or at least 1 other modern language such as C++, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript and Rust
- Knowledge of IT and AV standards, such as color spaces, codecs, container formats and HDMI/HDR/IP based streaming protocols
- Experience working with data centre infrastructure, server hardware development and distributed systems
- Experience with networking and cloud systems for remote testing environments
- Familiarity with AV utilities such as FFmpeg and GStreamer
- Linux experience provisioning, performance tuning and operating system fundamentals
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Engineering capacity

A day in the life
A typical day in the Amazon Video Operations Center (AVOC) begins with prepping and testing incoming feeds for live events that day - Events such as; Premier League football, Rugby, Music Concerts and much more!
During the event(s), playback is continuously monitored using automated alerts along with more traditional forms of broadcast monitoring! Should an issue arise Amazon has a highly skilled global team of engineers and developers whom our support engineers work with to quickly mitigate and resolve any issues, to prevent disruption to customers.
Post event, support engineers collate any relevant data points and communicate these out to stakeholders.
About the team
Our primary goal is to deliver a stellar viewing experience for our customers by broadcasting 'disruption-free' live events. When issues arise, we bias on the side of mitigation so that the customer experience can be restored quickly. These are live events.and speed matters!
In addition to executing live events on a daily basis, we also keep an eye on the future.
Execution - We are always looking ahead five quarters to ensure we have trained teams ready to operate all committed events. We regularly review our operations to identify opportunities to improve operator efficiency and performance.
Scale - Our vision involves transitioning to a "manage-by-exception" model which will increase capacity and operational excellence. We will rely on automation to reduce the number of manual tasks. Human intervention will only be required to address anomalies that cannot automatically be addressed.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Experience in development or technical support
- knowledge of common streaming protocols and live OTT video delivery
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development

In this role, you will own many large datasets, implementing new data pipelines that feed into or from critical data systems at Amazon. You will design, implement, and support new systems that ensure the quality of the data sets and work with our data scientists to make the data available for metrics, visualization, ad-hoc insights, and statistical modeling.

Prime Video's Growth and Commerce team leads acquisition and engagement analytics for all Prime Video Commerce experiences across mobile, living room and web. We own 50+ core metrics, 25+ Datasets used by entire Prime Video to drive key decisions and support multiple strategic company goals. We are seeking a (Sr.) Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) for our Prime Video Channels (Add-On) business across Europe. As BIE you will work closely with our business and finance teams building analytical and statistical/machine learning solutions that drive performance improvements for the business. Prime Video is seeking a Broadcasts Communications and Networks Engineer UK for our Global Live Sports Production Technical Operations team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in broadcast engineering with an in-depth working knowledge of broadcast communications and IP networking. Responsibilities include technical support of our international live sports productions.
Reporting to the Global Head of Engineering & Technology, the successful candidate works closely with our UK Production Operations and Production teams, while collaborating with the North American Technical Operations team on global initiatives.
The ideal candidate will continue to dive deep into new technology through meetings with vendors and attendance at industry conferences that showcase new best practices and technological advances.
Key job responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain broadcast engineering equipment and infrastructure supporting live sports productions.
- Provide hands-on support for video and audio signal flow, routing, networking, and transmission during live events.
- Manage and troubleshoot Amazon RTS production intercom systems, including frame configuration, key panels, PLs, and remote connectivity via SIP and RVON.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Cisco network switches and firewalls to ensure secure, high-availability network connectivity across production environment.
- Patch and maintain on-prem and AWS cloud-based servers, including Windows, macOS, and Linux systems in accordance with company security policies.
- Deploy and monitor IP-based contribution encoders and decoders using protocols like SRT and RIST.
- Proactively monitor and resolve system issues to ensure uninterrupted live broadcasts.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment procurement, support, and ongoing maintenance.
- Keep system documentation current, including signal flows, configuration notes, and maintenance procedures.
- Approximately 25-30 percent travel, both domestic and international. Travel schedule to vary based on sport properties season and event schedule.
Basic Qualifications
- Broadcast Technical Operations and Engineering Management experience, with knowledge of both fixed facilities and OB remote operations
- In-depth knowledge of remote production environments
- Knowledge of video, audio, communications, networking and other general broadcast technologies
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders in live television production environments
- Experience educating non-technical stakeholders and working across multiple teams and regions
- Ability to problem-solve and multi-task in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Extremely detail-oriented, organized, and a team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to clearly articulate and document technical processes
Preferred Qualifications
- BSc or equivalent Electrical Engineering, Media Production, Computer Science (or equivalent experience in Broadcast Engineering with Management responsibilities.
