My client in the LS25 area of Leeds are looking for an experienced Warehouse Operative.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse by performing various tasks related to the handling, storage, and distribution of goods.

This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties of the Role

Load and unload goods from lorries and containers, ensuring safe handling of materials.
Accurately pick and pack items for shipment according to order specifications.
Utilise warehouse management systems to track inventory levels and manage stock efficiently.
Perform materials handling tasks, including sorting and storing products in designated areas.
Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and effectively.
Conduct regular stock checks to maintain accurate inventory records.
Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Skills

Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues as they arise.
Experience with shipping and receiving processes within a warehouse setting.
Proficiency in using warehouse management systems for tracking inventory.
Strong skills in materials handling, including heavy lifting techniques.
Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification is preferred but not mandatory as training may be provided.
Familiarity with picking and packing procedures to ensure accuracy in order fulfilment.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively in a busy environment.

Current shift time: 12pm - 8:30pm Monday to Friday, however shift time will change to 10:30am - 6:30pm within the next 6 months.

Job Description

Responsible for loading and unloading vehicles and performing general warehouse duties to maintain efficient operations. This includes picking and packing products, as well as completing all administrative activities related to goods in and out. Joining an existing team of 1 warehouse supervisor and 3 warehouse operatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload international and domestic vehicles in a safe and timely manner.
  • Check and complete relevant documentation.
  • Receive deliveries of storage goods into the warehouse, check quantities and condition, record receipt, and complete paperwork.
  • Put away customer goods into relevant racking space.
  • Strategically store merchandise to maximize warehouse storage space.
  • Complete stock and inventory check as required.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse.
  • Keep all areas clean, including the warehouse, warehouse office, goods yard, and car parks.
  • Inspect merchandise for damages and discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all goods received and dispatched, in line with company procedures.

  • Perform manual handling of goods.

  • Assist with site and facilities maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain awareness of fire safety and conduct fire checks.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in a warehouse logistics environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office 365 applications.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptable to change and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications (if applicable)

  • Forklift truck licence (counterbalance/reach).
  • First aid qualification/certification preferred but not essential.
