About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Operations / Supply Chain / Purchasing Manager to join our expanding operations team. This role is central to our continued growth and offers real opportunity to influence how we manage suppliers, stock, and purchasing across the business.

You will be a proactive and detail-focused professional who thrives on delivering excellent customer service, negotiating the best deals, and ensuring quality through every part of the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all purchasing activity across all Summit business units
• Build and manage supplier relationships, ensuring quality, pricing, and compliance
• Create and implement supplier performance tools
• Lead and develop the purchasing team, while supporting warehouse and fabrication areas
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date pricing in the ERP system
• Support the sales team with updated supplier pricing and terms
• Manage stock levels based on historic sales data and future demand forecasting
• Organise international freight and manage associated costs
• Read and interpret legal documents such as supply contracts and import/export agreements
• Champion the integration of purchasing and logistics into the core of business operations

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in a similar supply chain or purchasing role
• Experience managing supplier and customer relationships
• Excellent communication skills and fluent in English
• Strong working knowledge of supply chain processes and ERP systems
• Ability to manage a team and deliver results under pressure
• Record of achieving cost savings and hitting delivery deadlines

Desirable Experience

• Office 365 proficiency
• Experience with MS Dynamics CRM
• Familiarity with MS Navision / Business Central

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business (or relevant experience)
• MCIPS

The Opportunity

• Lead the end-to-end supply chain function across procurement, inventory, logistics, and supplier performance.
• Coach and support a talented but overstretched purchasing team, providing hands-on leadership and structure.
• Shape and implement a scalable supply chain strategy aligned with business growth and margin improvement goals.
• Introduce best practice around compliance, sustainability, inventory optimisation, and working capital control.

What You’ll Bring

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (Master’s/CSCP/Six Sigma desirable)
• Extensive experience leading supply chain functions in complex, fast-paced businesses (distribution, logistics, manufacturing)
• Proven track record of delivering operational improvements and managing multi-SKU supply chains at scale

Skills & Knowledge

• Deep expertise in procurement, logistics, inventory, and vendor management
• Strong understanding of UK/international trade, customs, and compliance
• Proficiency in supply chain software (e.g. SAP, Oracle, ERP platforms)
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to drive cost savings without sacrificing service

The Role:

As a Supply Chain Administrator, you will manage and optimise stock planning, supplier relationships, and internal operations. This includes:

• Providing general administrative and clerical support
• Liaising with suppliers, service providers, and other external contacts
• Coordinating and processing supply orders, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy
• Preparing purchase orders, requisitions, and procurement documentation
• Resolving supply discrepancies and delivery issues promptly
• Maintaining accurate records of purchases, receipts, and inventory movements
• Assisting with data entry, reports, and presentations
