Job: Waste Collection Operative

Location: Yeovil

Salary: 26k

Skilled Labourer needed for a local authority.

Overview:

• Assisting trade staff with maintenance & repair work across their operating area.
• Working for a large maintenance contractor
• Clearence work
• External repairs
• Vehicle supplied for internal material runs between depots

LGV Waste Collection Driver required to j oin a busy waste management team as an LGV Driver, responsible for the safe and efficient collection of waste driving for Commercial Services . This hands-on role includes supervising a small team, ensuring health & safety standards, operating mechanical machinery, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness and security.

• Operate both automatic and manual refuse collection and recycling equipment.
• Move and empty wheeled bins, food waste caddies, and refuse sacks in all weather conditions.
• Provide domestic, food, bulky item, and trade waste collection services.
• Efficiently collect, sort, and load various recyclable items such as newspapers, magazines, glass, cans, and textiles.
• Distribute leaflets and deliver wheeled bins, storage boxes, and sacks to households.
• Maintain high levels of productivity and engage with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Work overtime as needed to complete collection rounds.
• Promote the service actively, including communication with householders.

• Utilize in-cab technology effectively.
• Work on bank holidays, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day, and continue until round completion.
