Blue Arrow are recruiting for Water Sampling Technicians . Our client is a global manufacturing company who are A leader in their industry, based in Swansea.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 7.30am-4pm / 40 hours a week
Working On & Offsite. This role requires flexibility to work away from office base with a 2-hour radius of Swansea East and West. Occasional overnight stays when work is necessary. Company vehicle will be provided, picked up from base and dropped off in the evenings.

Salary: £29,000 p.a
Contract: Permanent

Summary: To collect and deliver water samples from a range of locations (industrial, commercial, and/or natural water sources) in accordance with relevant water quality guidelines and company procedures, ensuring samples are taken, stored, and transported under strict quality and safety standards.

Main Responsibilities:
* Collection of water samples from designated site taps
* Delivery of samples to specified laboratories for testing
* Compliance with relevant procedures and standards for sample collection
* Travel to customer sites to complete site surveys as part of sales engineering works. Action and complete scope of work and ensure that project is completed to deadline.
* Review and implement internal documentation control associated to HSD/FMP processes


Essential Skills:
* Attention to Detail: Ability to follow strict sampling protocols and accurately label/record data.
* Time Management: Efficiently plan routes and meet sampling schedules within required timeframes.
* Health & Safety Awareness: Understanding of safe working practices, including lone working and use of PPE.
* Manual Handling & Practical Skills: Comfortable handling sampling equipment, cool boxes, and sample containers.
* Driving & Navigation: Confident driving to multiple field locations across varying terrain; full, clean UK driving licence required.
* Basic Technical Competence: Ability to use handheld instruments (e.g., pH meter, thermometer, turbidity meter) and ensure correct calibration.
* Problem-Solving: Identify and respond to unexpected field conditions (e.g., site access issues, contamination risks).
* Record-Keeping & Documentation: Maintain accurate logs, chain-of-custody forms, and digital records.
* Communication: Clear verbal and written reporting to supervisors and laboratory staff.
* Independence & Reliability: Self-motivated to work alone, meet deadlines, and uphold standards without constant supervision


Desirable/Additional Skills:
* Knowledge of Sampling Guidelines: Familiarity with UK water sampling standards (e.g., BS EN ISO 5667).
* Basic Data Entry & IT: Use of tablets or mobile apps for field data capture.
* Customer/Client Interaction: Professional conduct when visiting client premises or liaising with site contacts.
* Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust schedules due to weather, traffic, or urgent sampling requests.
* First Aid Awareness: Basic first aid or lone-worker safety training


Essential Requirements:

* Minimum age 25 - for insurance coverage on company vehicle

Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Water Treatment Technician. This role is on a full-time permanent basis servicing our clients’ various contracts in the West Midlands.

As a Senior Water Treatment Technician you will be required to support the clients objects to maintain the efficiency, effectiveness and longevity of the commercial water systems, maintain safety water systems, and implement successful water hygiene and treatment strategies.

Senior Water Treatment Technician - Offer:

Key Responsibilities
The Role

  • Installation, repair and service of equipment (filters, pumps, controllers, pre-treatment equipment), carried out in accordance with the service plan prepared and approved by the Manager
  • Electric and hydraulic installations
  • Carrying out water treatment service, at the customer's site
  • Performing cleaning of installations - essentials: cooling towers, Softener.
  • Performing cleaning of installations - preferable: RO system.
  • Checking inventory and supplementary orders for chemicals, spare parts and consumables,
  • Keep van and any other tools / assets clean and in working order ready for performing any interventions in the field.
  • Organize services and daily routing in the most effective way possible and in accordance with instructions from the Manager, considering ad hoc repair requirements, and using the implemented route-planning system.
  • Making sure that all services and interventions in the field are pre-approved by the Manager.
  • Accurately complete service reports according to local work instructions and codes of practice, and use the implemented company systems
  • Report any major incidents, quality issues, customer feedback and other relevant information from the field to the Manager according to the company regulations.
  • Promote and maintain good relations with customers, ensuring confidentiality, maintaining standards and promoting the good image of the Company.
  • Promote and identify sales opportunities through to the Manager and effectively liaise with the Sales team to ensure the highest levels of customer service are supplied to the customer.
  • Comply with quality standards and any applicable industry standards.
  • Use NCH Learning or any other Company LMS as required.
  • Ensure adherence to NCH Europe's health and safety standards, to protect the wellbeing of all NCH Europe Agents and Employees.
  • Ensure adherence with all compliance standards and operate with integrity at all times.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

LEGIONELLA RISK ASSESSMENTS & COMPLIANCE

  • Conduct comprehensive Legionella risk assessments in line with ACoP L8, HSG274 and relevant British Standards.
  • Produce clear, accurate and detailed written reports for clients, with recommendations for remedial actions.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of clients’ water systems and develop tailored control schemes.

WATER TREATMENT & REMEDIAL WORKS

  • Carry out routine water monitoring and sampling (temperature checks, dip slides, pH, conductivity, etc.)
  • Perform chlorination and disinfection of water systems, tanks, and pipework in accordance with BS 8558.
  • Implement minor plumbing remedials (dead leg removals, TMV servicing, tank inspections and cleanings).
  • Conduct closed system analysis and dosing as required.

TECHNICAL & CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Liaise with clients, providing professional advice and updates on compliance and performance.
  • Maintain service records and logbooks in accordance with contract requirements and legislation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve water system efficiency and safety for the client.

Requirements

  • City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Water Treatment, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, or Environmental
  • Science.
  • Legionella Risk Assessment qualification (e.g., City & Guilds accredited or similar).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in water treatment and water hygiene services.
  • Proven experience conducting Legionella Risk Assessments in accordance with ACOP L8 and HSG274.
  • Experience carrying out routine monitoring, cleaning, disinfections, and sampling of domestic hot and cold water
  • systems.
  • Comfortable working in a range of environments, including healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance, including Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations, ACOP L8,
  • HSG274, and BS 8558.
  • Understanding of closed system treatment (e.g., heating/cooling circuits) and basic BMS awareness.

Your role:

You will complete pre-planned maintenance of water hygiene works for clients across our field-based role, operating across South Yorkshire & Derbyshire to work on client sites, based on business needs.
