Atomic Digital Marketing ) is a fast-growing, UK-based digital marketing agency specialising in innovative website design and development, as well as performance-driven digital strategies. We work with a wide range of clients across industries, delivering websites that don't just look great but perform exceptionally too.
We're now looking for experienced freelance/contract web developers with proven skills in WordPress, Webflow, or Shopify (bonus if more than one) to join our extended team. This is a remote, contract-based role to start with, with potential to transition to a full time position depending on performance. It's also perfect for developers who want to collaborate with a creative, agile agency on diverse projects without being tied to full-time commitments.
Role Overview:
You'll work with our designers, marketers, and project managers to deliver high-quality websites and ecommerce solutions. Work will vary from quick troubleshooting tasks and landing page builds to full website projects. We value developers who can be dependable partners: communicative, detail-oriented, and able to deliver polished work on time.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, customise, and maintain websites in WordPress, Webflow, or Shopify.
- Convert Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD designs into pixel-perfect, responsive builds.
- Implement clean, functional layouts using Elementor (WP), Webflow Designer, or Shopify themes.
- Optimise websites for speed, mobile performance, and SEO best practices.
- Troubleshoot bugs, fix compatibility issues, and maintain consistent code quality.
- Integrate third-party tools and plugins/apps (CRM systems, payment gateways, analytics).
- Collaborate with designers, PMs, and marketers to ensure deadlines and project goals are met.
Requirements:
Minimum Core Skills (must have at least one platform):
- WordPress
- Strong knowledge of custom theme development and Elementor.
- Experience with WooCommerce setup and customisation.
- Familiarity with ACF, CPTs, and site optimisation best practices.
- Webflow
- Ability to translate Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD designs into responsive Webflow builds.
- Comfortable with CMS collections, dynamic content, and interactions.
- Experience with light custom code embeds (JavaScript, CSS).
- Shopify
- Confident with theme customisation and Liquid template edits.
- Experience setting up and configuring stores, payment gateways, and apps.
- Understanding of ecommerce optimisation (checkout flow, conversion-focused design).
Technical Competencies:
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (including DOM manipulation and debugging).
- Ability to build responsive, cross-browser compatible sites.
- Knowledge of site performance optimisation (minification, lazy loading, caching).
- Understanding of SEO fundamentals (meta setup, structure, semantic markup).
Professional Skills:
- Strong attention to detail - can deliver pixel-perfect builds.
- Good problem-solving and debugging ability.
- Clear and consistent communication.
- Ability to manage multiple small tasks as well as larger build projects.
- Reliability - when you commit, you deliver on time.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and working independently in a remote environment.
Bonus Skills:
- GSAP or other animation libraries (ScrollTrigger, timeline animations).
- Experience with third-party API integrations (e.g., booking systems, CRMs).
- Familiarity with Git/version control workflows.
- Knowledge of technical SEO, structured data, and performance optimisation tools.
- Experience with advanced ecommerce features (subscriptions, memberships, custom checkout).

Your skills in web design and development will be crucial in creating a visually engaging and user-friendly online presence that effectively communicates the park's biodiversity and mission. By designing engaging websites and interactive platforms, you'll help us connect with our community, inspire action, and secure the necessary support for the park's future.
What are we looking for?
You should be experienced in HTML, PHP, CSS, Javascript and SQL, and or UX and web design. You should be comfortable with community-led processes. Our roles are quite flexible. We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature, and courageous inclusiveness to the role.
What will you be doing?
East London Waterworks Park is a charity that has raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. We are looking for web developers and designers to contribute to our community-led working group who are working on coordinating content and infrastructure for the East London Waterworks Park website. There is opportunity to lead on projects across web development and UX and web design, and facilitate the direction of the working group. The Comms Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Tuesday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.
