A well-established independent publishing company with a great reputation for producing high-quality, illustrated nonfiction publications for both enthusiasts and professionals, has asked Think Selection to recruit an Editorial Director to lead its publishing strategy.

This is a unique career opportunity to make a significant contribution at a senior level, on a part-time freelance basis, for between 15-25 hours per week.

Your role as Editorial Director will be to oversee content acquisition across books and eBooks, working closely with the CEO and Editorial team to shape a commercially successful list.

The role will involve identifying market opportunities, commissioning new content, and overseeing a team of editors and designers to develop books that appeal to both specialist and mainstream audiences. Close collaboration with authors, sales, and design teams will be key to ensuring every title meets the highest standards.

Candidates should have extensive experience, including a minimum 8-10 years’ experience in publishing, with at least 5 years in content acquisition in illustrated nonfiction. Strong market awareness, commercial acumen, and the ability to drive publishing decisions with confidence are essential.

This is a hybrid-remote role with visits to the company’s Pennsylvania offices several days each month. The successful candidate will receive a competitive remuneration based on experience.

If this rare opportunity sounds of interest to you, please send your resume to Danny Parnes at Think Selection: – or you can call Danny on +44 (0)7958 208817 for an initial, exploratory call. Thank you.
