Region NCE > SBU NCE Service > Inch Cape

At almost 1.1 gigawatts, Inch Cape is one of Scotland's largest Offshore Wind Farms approximately 15km off the coast of Angus in the North Sea firth. Based on the Port in Montrose, Scotland you will be working in the Service department for Vestas who are the OEM and responsible for the maintenance and repair of 72 x VMW offshore wind turbines.
You will be part of a team of technicians working throughout the region responsible for the maintenance and repair of the wind turbines. You will be required to develop a detailed knowledge of our wind turbines to enable you to perform daily maintenance and other field service-related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out periodic service inspections in accordance with Vestas's specifications
  • Component replacement (both electrical and mechanical) and troubleshooting on the systems
  • Maintaining and upgrading Service activities & creating follow-up orders
  • Ensuring a safe work practice by acting in compliance with Vestas HSE requirements
  • Ensuring own P.P.E checks are done, and monthly check sheets are logged
  • Working with both the other technicians and supervisors in the field, whilst also having regular contact with the office-based staff
  • Registration of time and material consumption in Vestas systems (e.g., SAP)

Qualifications

  • Completion of an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship or practical experience in relevant fields
  • Technical education (Electrical/Mechanical) NVQ/HNC/HND/BTEC
  • Previous accreditation as an AT/CT under WTSR would be advantageous
  • Ability to read/interpret technical drawings to support fault-finding and/or maintenance activities
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft products (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams) and general IT, possibly with SAP experience
  • Fluent English
  • Full Driving License

As a result of recent successes and the development of new projects and clients, Stantec are looking to recruiting a Mechanical Engineer into our Energy & Resources team. This role can be based in any of our UK offices but will ideally be reachable from the Midlands/Bristol.
Working as part of our Waste and Generation Team, you will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects including conventional EfW plants, district heating, gasification projects, hydrogen generation schemes and multiple biogas production projects.
In this role you will be involved in the whole project life cycle, from optioneering through to detailed design and installation. You will be involved with feasibility studies, site surveys and investigations. You will work collaboratively with clients, partners and other team members to develop designs and project-wide solutions across a wide variety of projects across Stantec's Energy and Resources sector.
As Designers in the construction/energy/waste sectors it is incumbent on us to take our responsibility for HSE matters seriously and we foster a culture of open scrutiny and continuous improvement in these areas.

**About You**
You will have experience within Mechanical Engineering or a related field ideally with experience with the energy/power sector or related process plant sector, ideally Chartered or on the road to Chartership.
Our team are routinely engaged in producing technical specifications across a wide range of technologies (e.g. Steam, piping, hydrogen, biomass, EfW plants etc), schedules and reports. We support collaborative design outputs, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams. You should have a good understanding of a number of these activities and be happy to communicate technical updates to clients and team members.

£36,500 - £62,000 p.a according to experience (We have a graded reward package to suit new entrants to the renewables industry through to the most experienced Wind Turbine Technicians).

Working hours - New Technician (37hrs) to Service Technician Level 3 (40hrs).

What you’ll do:

  • Be a Multi-Skilled Authorised Technician under the EDFR Wind Turbine Safety Rules working on one or more Wind Turbine Variants.
  • Opportunity to become a High Voltage Single Feed Senior Authorised Person under EDFR E&M Safety Rules.
  • Undertake Major Component (Gearbox, Generator, Transformer etc) Replacements.
  • Complex fault finding and repair on Electrical, Hydraulic and Convertor Systems both remotely and at the Wind Turbine.
  • Complete Scheduled Maintenance to high standards and take pride of the assets that you maintain.
  • Complete internal & external technical and safety training to develop your skills.
  • Typically work in a two-person working party within a supportive team environment.

We are currently seeking a Civil Design Manager with experience in the Waste and Generation sector to join any of our offices across the UK. This is an opportunity for you to play an important part in the U.K. systems and infrastructure across a wide range of Clients including Viridor, ConocoPhillips, HiiROC, SSE and Thalia. You will have to opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects including Energy from Waste plants, Hydrogen projects, Due Diligence projects, Digestion & Gas Engine schemes, Pre-FEED and FEED studies.
As a Design Manager, you will partner with clients across the UK&I to lead in the development of innovative and sustainable solutions that address industry-wide challenges in efficiency and environmental impact. You will oversee the Pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design processes for waste to energy systems, digestion and power generation projects along with a range of hydrogen projects.
We are involved in new-build, refurbishments, upgrades and retro-fit projects. You will foster a collaborative and supportive work environment where your team can thrive as well as contributing to the continued growth and success of Stantec's Energy sector teams.

**About You**
You will ideally be qualified with a Bachelor's/Masters degree in Civil Engineering (or related field). You will have strong experience in the Waste and Generation sector, ideally with a background in Civil Engineering.
You will be a pro-active individual with knowledge and experience of the energy industry. You will have the capability to coach and mentor juniors in the team and cross collaborate across the business. You will be engaged in the engineering community and understand how we can drive success for our clients, including understanding innovative solutions and industry best practices.
You will have proven experience in the design management of Waste and Generation projects from concept to completion and have an in-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Your passion for sustainability and a desire to make a positive impact on the environment will be critical to your success.
