What you'll do
- Be the Lead on multiple delivery projects while work on day-to-day BAU and support tasks.
- Proactively create and deliver infrastructure as code to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our internal or customer-facing services
- Lead Troubleshooting and problem solving
- Create new designs, architectures and standards for new projects or solutions to improve current infrastructure, and contribute to the stability and security of the environment
- Help with capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning, defining processes and best practices for reliable and timely delivery
- Communicate work status regularly with a clear articulation of design choices along the way.
- Experience in solving technical issues, managing technical projects, and mentoring engineers
- Experience working in a multi technical SRE department, with the ability to break down complex problems and find practical solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills which will allow you to collaborate with stakeholders and communicate effectively with your peers
- The ambition to excel in a fast-paced, constantly changing digital environment

Our IoT Platform team works closely with product, delivery, and business teams to create seamless customer experiences. From integrating connected devices to managing the smart home, we focus on building the platform that enables customers to connect with the technologies that matter most.
We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our IoT Platform group. Reporting to the Head of Software Architecture, you will take ownership of the architecture for our consumer IoT devices and the AWS-hosted platform that supports them. - Firmware Integration - Ensure firmware designs and integrations meet business and non-functional requirements, working closely with device manufacturers.
- Policy Alignment - Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and policies, including security and data governance, and integrate seamlessly with Sky services (identity, data, compliance).

The Global Streaming Data Platforms (GS-Data) department is leading the way in many areas of data. The department has designed and built a world-leading real time data analytics platform, using the latest cloud and open-source technologies. We stream billions of events each day to enable our partner teams across Sky and Comcast deliver customer-led sophisticated insights and analytics.
What you'll do
- Design, build, test and maintain software to help integrate and orchestrate the movement of data between critical Data components.
- Deliver observable, reliable and secure software, adopting you build it you run it mentality, and focus on automation.
- Take an active role in story definition, assisting business collaborators with acceptance criteria.
- Work with Principal Engineers and Architects to share and supply to the broader technical vision.
- Support and mentor less experienced members of the team.
- Track record of delivering complex, production quality applications.
- Strong Scala development experience, preferably in the akka /pekko ecosystem.
- Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes and Cloud technologies.
- Strong Test Driven Development background, with understanding of levels of testing required to continuously deliver value to production
- Experience with build management and CI systems such as Jenkins, TeamCity or similar
- Delivery experience within an agile environment using Scrum / Kanban methodologies and Pair Programming.
- The attitude of leading by example and the willingness to work as part of a team.
