International Internal Auditor - About the role

Working within a large international audit team and reporting into the Audit Director, the primary responsibility will be to conduct financial, compliance and special project audits throughout the business.You will identify risks and assess the quality of internal controls that might influence business performance. Key responsibilities include:

t
• complete financial and operational reviews across all areas of the business
t
• ensure adequate controls and processes are in place for each assignment
t
• communicate findings to senior management 
t
• act as a value adding, consulting resource to areas of the business that require financial advice
t
• provide written documentation to support findings and recommendations

International Internal Auditor - Candidate requirements:

t
• Degree educated with a recognised accounting qualification ( ideally a newly or recently qualified ACA or European equivalent)
t
• Would suit a newly qualified ACA making their first move out of practice
t
• A willingness to travel up to 50% on a shorter haul pan European basis with one or two longer haul trips per annum ( see the world and get paid for it!)
t
• Whilst not essential , fluency in a second European language (French, Spanish, German or Italian ) would be highly advantageous
t
• Strong PC skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint etc
t
• Outgoing and enthusiastic
t
• Willing to learn and keen to develop.
t
• Organised and able to meet various weekly/monthly deadlines.

• Plan, execute, and complete audits for a diverse range of clients across various industries.
• Ensure all audits are conducted in compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., UK GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and communicate audit risks and control weaknesses to clients.
• Develop audit strategies and programmes tailored to specific client needs.
• Supervise and mentor junior audit staff, providing guidance and review of their work.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports, including findings and recommendations.
• Manage client relationships, acting as a primary point of contact for audit matters.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and advisory services when required.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards, legislation, and industry best practices.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit methodologies and processes.
• Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and budget expectations.

• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification as a Chartered Accountant.
• Proven experience in audit and assurance, ideally within a practice environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Excellent understanding of auditing standards and procedures.
• Proficiency in audit software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Experience working with clients in the Oxford, Oxfordshire, UK area is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid setting.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

• Prepare and submit corporate tax returns for a wide range of clients.
• Provide expert advice on corporate tax planning, compliance, and strategy.
• Conduct tax research and analysis on complex tax issues.
• Assist clients with tax investigations and inquiries from HMRC.
• Identify opportunities for tax efficiencies and savings for clients.
• Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and their impact on clients.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Collaborate with other departments within the firm to provide integrated client solutions.
• Mentor and train junior members of the tax team.
• Ensure compliance with professional ethics and standards.
• Contribute to the development and growth of the tax department.
• Review work of junior staff and provide constructive feedback.

• Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Proven experience in corporate tax, either within practice or industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation and practice.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
• Proficiency in tax software and accounting systems.
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Team player with the ability to work independently.
• Experience with international tax issues is a plus.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.

• Prepare and review statutory financial statements, management accounts, and group consolidations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, including IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Analyse financial performance, identifying variances and providing insightful commentary.
• Manage the year-end audit process, liaising effectively with external auditors.
• Develop and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Provide technical accounting advice to the finance team and other departments.
• Oversee the accurate and timely filing of financial reports and tax returns.
• Mentor and guide junior members of the finance team, fostering their professional development.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices.

• Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in financial accounting and reporting.
• Proven experience in preparing complex financial statements, including consolidations.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong understanding of accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Xero) and advanced Excel skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritise tasks effectively in a remote setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
• Experience in auditing or corporate finance is advantageous.
