Job Description
Key responsibilities for this remote position include:
- Leading and designing research projects focused on crop science, soil health, integrated pest management, and precision agriculture.
- Developing and implementing sustainable agronomic strategies to improve crop yields, resource efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
- Analysing large datasets from field trials, soil analyses, and remote sensing to derive actionable insights.
- Collaborating with a diverse team of scientists, researchers, and industry partners across various geographical locations.
- Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences.
- Developing and delivering training programs and workshops on best practices in sustainable agriculture for farmers and stakeholders.
- Securing research funding through grant applications and collaborative proposals.
- Providing expert advice on policy development related to agricultural sustainability and land management.
- Mentoring junior researchers and agronomists, fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation.
- Staying abreast of the latest advancements in agricultural technology, genetics, and environmental science.
We are looking for candidates with:
- A PhD in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of extensive research experience in agronomy, with a focus on sustainable agricultural systems.
- A strong publication record in high-impact scientific journals.
- Proven experience in designing and managing complex field research trials.
- Expertise in statistical analysis and proficiency with research software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS).
- Excellent grant writing and fundraising skills.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and collaboration abilities, effective in a remote, international setting.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience in mentoring scientific staff.
- A deep understanding of ecological principles and their application in agriculture.
- Familiarity with GIS and remote sensing technologies in agriculture is highly desirable.
