  • Lead and manage drug discovery projects, defining project goals, timelines, and strategic direction.
  • Design and execute complex experiments in medicinal chemistry, biology, or pharmacology to identify and validate novel drug targets and hit compounds.
  • Develop and optimize assays for high-throughput screening (HTS) and lead compound profiling.
  • Utilize cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in drug discovery, such as fragment-based drug design, structure-based drug design, and AI/ML in drug discovery.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, drawing robust conclusions and making data-driven decisions.
  • Supervise and mentor junior scientists and research associates, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and innovation.
  • Collaborate extensively with internal teams (e.g., chemistry, biology, DMPK, toxicology) and external partners in a fully remote setting, ensuring seamless project progression.
  • Prepare and present research findings at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Contribute to the writing of grant proposals and intellectual property filings.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate laboratory notebooks and research records.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature and advancements in relevant therapeutic areas and drug discovery technologies.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science discipline.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a strong focus on small molecule drug discovery.
  • Demonstrated success in leading drug discovery projects from conception to early development candidates.
  • Extensive experience with a variety of drug discovery techniques and platforms.
  • Strong understanding of disease biology, target validation, and mechanism of action.
  • Proven ability to design and interpret complex biological or chemical assays.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and guide research teams remotely.
