As a Senior Research Scientist, you will lead and execute complex research projects focused on identifying and validating novel therapeutic targets and chemical matter. You will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, analysing data, and contributing to the progression of drug candidates through the preclinical pipeline. This hybrid role blends essential laboratory-based work with remote data analysis and reporting, offering flexibility and deep scientific engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and interpret complex experiments in molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell biology relevant to drug discovery.
- Develop and validate novel assays for target engagement, efficacy, and safety screening.
- Analyse and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and software.
- Contribute to the identification and validation of novel drug targets and lead optimisation efforts.
- Manage research projects, setting clear objectives, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Mentor and guide junior research staff, fostering scientific excellence and professional development.
- Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences.
- Write and contribute to scientific publications and patent applications.
- Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks and adhere to all safety and compliance regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including medicinal chemistry, DMPK, and toxicology.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of research programs within the company.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a closely related life science discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience in drug discovery, with a strong publication record.
- Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of laboratory techniques relevant to the specific therapeutic area (e.g., mammalian cell culture, recombinant protein expression and purification, enzyme kinetics, screening technologies).
- Proven ability to design and execute complex experimental plans, troubleshoot effectively, and interpret results independently.
- Strong understanding of medicinal chemistry principles and drug development processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., GraphPad Prism, R) and scientific literature databases.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in presenting scientific data.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented, fast-paced research environment.
- This role requires a hybrid presence, with regular work conducted both in our state-of-the-art Cambridge laboratories and remotely for data analysis and reporting.

As a Sales Manager in this growing company, you will be utilising your molecular biology or biochemistry expertise and sales acumen to identify and win new customers. This is a pivotal role for the company, and you will be responsible for building a new sales strategy, attending industry events, building new relationships and engaging with key stakeholders.
The company have developed a new desktop tool that aims to speed up and improve drug discovery outcomes with novel technology that is at the intersection of science and engineering.
You will be utilising your scientific commercial experience to interact directly with potential customers and to help them understand more about the technology and how it can improve their discovery capabilities.
To be considered for this exciting role you will need to have the following;
- Prior sales experience, ideally within a drug discovery setting.
- Biology or Biochemistry academics.
- Some knowledge of bioprocessing or protein assays would be ideal.
- Be a great communicator and enjoy travelling with work (around 30%).
