About the Department
The Technology function is responsible for activities related to the strategic direction and control of all information systems and technology capabilities, both internally and externally, including system design and programming, network planning, budget planning, database management, and computer operations.
The Telecommunications & Network Administration focus lies within our Technology Infrastructure area, and specialises in coordinating data, voice, and/or network communications with business units and systems management, as well as vendors and/or consultants.
About the Role
We are looking for a Network Support Analyst to join our UK-based team in London. You will help support our global network infrastructure, handling both BAU issues and provide support for projects.
Ideal candidates should possess excellent customer service skills and be capable of working effectively both within a team and independently. Incident, change and problem management is a crucial aspect of this role, requiring regular updates to the business and through the service desk.
The team's responsibilities will be closely integrated with other teams within the Enterprise Services department. Therefore, it is essential that you can establish strong connections with other technical team members in IT and the desktop support teams.
Key Responsibilities

Provide network support for Aberdeen's global network and Cloud environments.

Configure and deploy both physical and virtual network devices and services.

Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including patches, hot fixes, and security updates.

Monitor network performance to ensure stability and availability and track system resource utilisation, trends, and capacity planning.

About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Proven hands-on network experience supporting LAN and WAN technologies across branch offices, data centres, and Azure environments.

Knowledge of Azure Firewalls, NSG Groups, Checkpoint Firewalls, Palo Alto Firewalls, IPS devices, Cisco Meraki Wireless, load balancing technologies and SD-WAN technologies for both on-premises and cloud.

Experience in deploying network resources through automation and deep understanding of networking routing protocols.

Hands-on experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Azure Native Networking Monitoring Tools, SolarWinds NPM, NetFlow, ISE, and Wireshark.

Familiarity with change management processes.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with end users, vendors, and technical staff.

The Role
We are looking for a Network Engineer to join the team here at Freshwave. This role is part of the team who are responsible for the successful design, implementation, and commissioning of the networking infrastructure that underpins much of Freshwave Services. You will also cover working closely with Freshwave partners, through to acting as key expertise for networking aspects in the engineering new products and operations teams.
Requirements
Responsibilties- Technical implementation of design solutions – including creating standard processes for the systems, that can be used by wider Freshwave engineering and delivery teams to implement and validate the onsite customer systems. Configuration of routers, switches, RAN and monitoring systems
- Providing network engineering services to support the delivery of new Freshwave sites – detailed implementation of network components, including subsequent testing, validation, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot problems identified during testing and drive them to resolution
- Evaluate new technologies and platforms - document, build, and execute test plans to qualify vendor solutions, develop evaluation criteria and scoring and perform integration testing of network elements.
- Basic programming/coding of network tools and systems, including support for ongoing network automation to reduce reliance on individuals and allow scaling of Freshwave technologies
- Practical knowledge in all packet-based protocols such as TCP / IP (including protocols like DHCP, DNS, TCP, UDP, etc.), switching and routing protocols.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring and managing IPsec VPNs, including site-to-site and remote access solutions for secure network communication
- Proficient in deploying, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructure using Juniper, Cisco (including Nexus), MikroTik, and FortiGate devices
- Detailed understanding of modern router architecture, LAN switching architecture, design and implementation.
- Understanding diagnostic tools, Tcpdump, Wireshark, NMAP, Netflow.
- Knowledge of monitoring and management tools (OSS/NMS) such as OpenNMS or similar.
- Network automation exposure with experience in Python software development and network infrastructure management using CLI, SNMP, NETCONF interfaces.
- Having Cisco network certifications - CCNA (routing and switching) or equivalent as a minimum.

- Adhere to strict change control processes and maintain up-to-date technical documentation as part of working in a high-security, government-led environment.
- Attend daily operational calls with Parliament's IT operations teams to discuss faults, incidents, and change activity from the past 24 hours.
- Answer technical queries from both internal stakeholders and PDS engineers, offering guidance across switching, routing, wireless, and access control technologies.
- Engage in monthly and quarterly roadmap discussions to align with future requirements and network strategy across the Parliamentary Estate.
Who you are:
You're a highly skilled network engineer with proven experience in large-scale Cisco enterprise environments, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Key Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with exposure to working within pressurised enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise networking, including switching, routing, and wireless technologies
- Proficiency with Cisco Catalyst switches (including stacked deployments)
- Working knowledge of Cisco ISE, Prime Infrastructure, and Catalyst Centre
- Experience with Wireless LAN Controllers and large-scale Cisco Access Point deployments

Key Responsibilities:
-Design and plan water distribution systems in line with regulations and industry standards.
-Manage maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of water network infrastructure.
-Oversee projects from start to finish, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors.
-Ensure all work complies with legal, environmental, and safety requirements.
-Stay up to date with industry innovations and contribute to continuous improvement.
What We Are Looking For:
-Minimum 7 years' experience in water network or utilities engineering.
-Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering (or related field) is desirable
-Good understanding of UK water industry standards and practices.
-Experience within hydraulic modelling is desirable
-Strong background in water networks or utilities engineering.
