About the teamWe’re looking for trend aware sports enthusiasts to join our dedicated Nike buying & merchandising team. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with one of the world’s biggest brands, which will be across multiple sports disciplines as well as sport-style fashion.
As part of The Very Sports Team, you will deliver a product offer that our customers will love - while also considering the overall department strategy.
Relationship building is essential in this role to ensure you are working closely with your immediate team, the wider Sports Category Team, the Marketing Team and of course – Nike.
About the role
As the Buying Assistant, you will manage the department critical path whilst undertaking administrative support for the buying function.
We’re looking for a Buying Assistant or Buyers Admin Assistant with previous buying experience or who has transferable skills in a relevant profession and can demonstrate a strong understanding and passion for buying.
About youThe skills and behaviours imperative to being a successful Buying Assistant here at The Very Group are commercial awareness, ability to build relationships, strong communication skills, initiative, problem solving, interpreting data and you must have excellent attention to detail
Previous experience in Buying as a buying assistant or buyers admin assistant is beneficial but not essential, more important skills to us are:
- Ability to understand the customer.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload.
- A great attitude and willingness to learn.
- Proficient in Excel

We are currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented individual to join our client's team as a Buying Admin Assistant to assist their buying team within a world renowned ecommerce brand!
Responsibilities:
- Obtain, check, and update order confirmations from suppliers with 100% accuracy.
- Manage the introduction of new suppliers, ensuring they are correctly set up with accounts payable and internal systems.
- Maintain accurate purchase orders within Fulcrum, including uplift/cost price/style code/shipping window details.
- Keep records of payment terms and shipping details up to date.
- Raise re-orders as requested by the department.
- Perform site checks and request product merges, creating new PID's when necessary.
- Perform pre-upload checks and resolve any issues before go-live, including pre-shoot management.
- Collect, check, and upload all recommended retail prices (RRPs) each season, ensuring appropriate margins.
- Perform pricing checks (margin, default & RRP) prior to upload.
- Prepare vendor packs for buying trips, including relevant files such as sell-through reports and range plans.
- Act as a single point of contact for query resolution and follow-up across various departments.
- Provide support to the department with administrative duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of previous commercial experience in a fast-paced fashion retail buying or merchandising environment with strong administrative skills.
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of the fashion industry, our products, and competition.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work with stringent deadlines.
- A positive work ethic and excellent multitasking abilities.
- Strong numerical and commercial reasoning skills.
