Legal Contracts Specialist – Cambridgeshire (Hybrid, minimum 1 day a week office based)

Salary Guide: £45,000 – £60,000 per annum

We are partnering with a leading organisation in the energy sector who are seeking to recruit am In-House Legal Contracts Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded legal professional seeking a long-term role within a dynamic and forward-thinking business.


The Role

You will be responsible for managing the full contract lifecycle across a broad range of commercial agreements. This includes reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and advising on contract terms and conditions. The role requires a strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end process of commercial contract drafting, review, negotiation, and administration.
  • Advise on terms and conditions and contractual risk management.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure compliance and contract alignment with business objectives.
  • Support contract renewals and variations, including off-shore contracting where applicable.
  • Maintain effective contract records and documentation using Microsoft Office and related software.


About You:

  • Strong background in reviewing and managing commercial contracts.
  • Experience in the renewable energy or engineering sector would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • Offshore contracting experience would be an advantage, not essential.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Computer literate and confident using current software packages, particularly Microsoft Office.

Qualifications:

  • A qualified Solicitor or formal legal qualification is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
  • An engineering qualification or exposure to an engineering environment would be beneficial.

Working Arrangements:

  • Hybrid working model with one day per week in the Cambridgeshire office as a minimum.

THE ROLE  

We are looking for a Colorado-based Contracts Manager or Associate Attorney to join Avantia and support our Americas Contracts team. In this role you will be supporting with first round markups of investment related NDAs and related documents, managing conflicts, setting up and coordinating workflows and portal management and assisting with the execution of documents.   

Avantia Law is offering a full-time position based in our office in Castle Rock, Colorado. 

Salary range is $50,000 – $0,000 but will depend on the final candidates’ experience and qualifications. In addition, you will have access to Avantia’s benefits which includes 20 days of PTO, 4% employer 401K match and health, vision and dental insurance benefits. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Contract Drafting and Support: Supporting our attorneys in the Americas with first round markups of a high volume of documents.   
  • Supporting conflicts and clearance processes, liaising with internal and external stakeholders in the Americas and Europe. 
  • Managing the intake of new documents and meeting quick turnaround times.  
  • Client Support: Setting up and coordinating client workflows and assisting with setting up portals and getting contracts signed and finalised.  
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with our Americas attorneys, supporting the attorneys with ad hoc work where necessary.

Requirements

Requirements 

    • For attorneys: A law degree or at least 1 year experience working in a transactional or corporate practice group or in an in-house commercial legal team setting.   
    • For contract managers: A college degree and at least 4 years experience working in an in-house legal team as a contract manager (or equivalent experience). 
    • Experience working with commercial contracts and drafting initial document markups and exposure to NDAs is highly desirable.
