The opportunity

As a Creative Copywriter, you will contribute to the success of GUS, harnessing the power of technology and digital platforms to create unique and engaging campaigns that resonate with our brand's ethos. Your work will span across various channels, including organic and paid social media, PPC, SEO, newsletters and conversion activity, harmonising these elements to build a best-in-class content portfolio.

To excel in this role, you should be an exceptional communicator with a proven ability to conceptualise and implement creative ideas. You should know when to apply technology to accelerate the writing process and when human creativity is essential to the process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Write engaging copy for social media, PPC, SEO, PR, and content marketing, maintaining a consistent tone and voice
  • Collaborate with marketing and PR teams to develop creative ad copy and brand messaging
  • Produce blogs, articles, and other content to support SEO, audience engagement, and internal communications
  • Draft press releases and storytelling content to highlight brand activities and successes
  • Use AI and digital tools to support copywriting, applying a human touch where needed
  • Align all content with marketing goals and brand strategy
  • Stay updated on content trends and apply best practices
  • Join brainstorming sessions to generate campaign and content ideas
  • Maintain a content calendar aligned with business objectives
  • Ensure all content reflects DEI principles
  • Support regular content audits and recommend improvements
  • Uphold quality control to ensure brand consistency and error-free copy
Requirements

Essential

  • 5+ years' experience in creative copywriting across channels such as social media, SEO, PPC, content marketing, PR, and internal communications
  • 2+ years working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong research and analytical skills - able to understand audience sentiment and optimise content based on performance data
  • Experience with writing for digital channels, including SEO and keyword integration
  • Interest in emerging technologies that impact copywriting (e.g. generative AI, automation, data analytics)
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to create newsletters, ghostwrite, and craft compelling content
  • Fluent in English with outstanding writing, editing, and grammar skills
  • A portfolio demonstrating writing and creative ability

Desirable

  • Qualification in digital marketing or writing/journalism
  • Experience in the education sector
  • Familiarity with SEO tools (e.g. SEMrush, Ahrefs), social media tools (e.g. Hootsuite, Buffer), and CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress)
  • Experience in digital marketing, including SEO, SEM, and social media advertising
