THE ROLE
As a Design Director, you will:
- Promote and develop creative thinking and motivate others to come up with new and unique ideas.
- Ensure complex information is delivered and displayed in the most compelling way.
- Lead the team to deliver amazing work, from conceptual ideas, through development, design, and completion.
- Be a partner with the senior team to ensure that the creative solution solves the client / brand need on the project.
- Listen to, mentor, and guide the design team members to learn and grow their skills and knowledge.
- Take ownership of full project delivery, ensuring everyone involved is clear on the objectives, and can subsequently help to create a case study for each project.
- Play an active role in new business, being involved in pitches and meeting with potential new clients.
- Work with the Creative Director to build, manage, and sustain a digital first design team.
Requirements
As a Design Director, you are:
- Experienced: with several years of experience under your belt, you’ve created great work for big international brands, small charities and everything in between. Ideally you will currently be working as a Design Director and have a strong background or leading a design team, however a hungry and driven Senior Designer ready for their first Design Director role will also be considered.
- Keen eye for design: current in the latest trends and standards for graphic design and know the difference between decoration and creative problem-solving.
- Technical: you are a master of the Adobe Creative Suite, with skills/experience in one or more of the following a major plus: Sketch, After Effects, Premiere Pro and Cinema 4D. You have delivered strong concepts and unique ideas across various mediums, with experience in motion and digital design.
- Collaborative: you love to brainstorm and work with others, whether you are 1-1 with the creative director or rolling your sleeves up with the team, you do your part to contribute to the creation of a killer execution.
- Detail oriented: you are able to manage multiple projects at once while maintaining attention to detail with each project.
- A self-starter: always curious and excited to learn with one finger to the pulse of the latest trends in brand and design.
- Full of personality: enthusiastic, passionate and positive, always bringing good vibes to the team.
- Clear communicator: Strong communication skills and an ability to work remotely and independently with the ability to collaborate successfully during this new normal.

- Developing, organizing, structuring, and presenting well-thought-out design solutions that meet client objectives while interpreting and challenging feedback as necessary to enhance the brand.
- Producing compelling ideas and maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship in all facets of design.

- Possessing a solid grasp of the creative process from the brief to production, swiftly refining concepts to spotlight the strongest ideas.

- Have proven experience in a top branding, design or creative business, ideally with experience working with large scale clients, packaging and digital.
- Adept at creating holistic branding concepts and design solutions, articulating and executing brand ideas across multiple touch points

+ Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
+ Ensures compliance in compiling and maintenance of Design History Files.
+ Drives a consistent approach to Design Controls across all the business units in ConvaTec.
+ Define and manage KPIs for related Quality Management Systems, in partnership with T&I
+ Ensures timely investigations and implementation of corrective actions related to design.
+ Permanent quality member for stage gate reviews/approvals.
+ Part of the T&I extended leadership team.
+ Part of the GDC site leadership team, including quality oversight of test laboratories that execute design validation, verification, and stability studies.
+ Management representative for GDC.
+ Ensures that QMS requirements are effectively established, implemented, maintained, and documented in accordance with standards and regulations identified in the reference section of the quality manual.
+ Reporting to management on the effectiveness of the quality management system and any needs for improvement.
+ Ensuring the promotion of awareness of the applicable regulatory and QMS requirements throughout the organization.
+ Ensuring quality policy is understood, implemented, and maintained at all levels of convatec.
+ Have oversight and support quality activities at the convatec Canada Ltd site as well as the Boston development site, ensuring compliance on the execution of the processes.
+ Lead 3rd party due diligence related to design quality/design controls.
+ Lead, direct, or execute vendor approval audits related to new product introductions.
+ Direct a team of design assurance and quality system managers with direct assignments to each business unit, ensuring close partnership with T&I on the development & launch of new products. This team covers design activities at all locations across convatec, and includes software as a medical device.
+ Has a total of minimum 7 direct reports, including global process owners for critical technical functions that impact all of convatec (risk management and statistical techniques).

+ Breadth of professional field and industry knowledge.
+ Experience working in Quality Systems/Processes that cover Medical Device Design Controls and Pharmaceutical Development preferred.

+ Minimum of B.S., or equivalent, in a scientific/technical discipline is required. Advanced degree (M.S., M.B.A, Ph.D. or equivalent) preferred.
+ Certifications in Quality Management Systems preferred.
+ Ten+ (10+) years in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry.
+ Five to seven (5-7) years experience in a leadership role.
+ Practical experience and global mastery in global quality standards and regulations governing medical products.
+ Written and spoken English. Another language would be an advantage

+ Techno‑Functional Solution Design: Interpret business requirements and design holistic supply chain planning solutions (Demand, Supply, IBP, S&OP-S&OE,STD,TLB) using o9 platform capabilities
+ Integration Architecture Leadership: Lead design workshops; define E2E data integration strategy linking ERP sources and other sources (SAP, TPM, etc.) through to o9 integration layers
+ Data Mapping & Architecture Governance: Oversee source‑to‑target mappings, platform architecture alignment, and governance of solution artifacts (Solution Design Document, Technical Design Document, Data Mapping)
+ Cross‑Functional Stakeholder Facilitation: Run alignment sessions across regions & stakeholders, partners (o9), implementation teams; influence decisions, define priorities and resolve ambiguity
