We are looking for a Data Architect with proven experience designing and implementing data platforms using Databricks. Key Responsibilities:
+ Designing and implementing cloud-native data architectures using Databricks and technologies such as Delta Lake, Spark, and MLflow.
+ Developing and maintaining robust data pipelines, including batch and streaming workloads, to support data ingestion, processing, and consumption.
+ Collaborating with business stakeholders and analytics teams to define data requirements, data models, and data integration strategies.

+ Leading technical efforts in data quality, metadata management, data cataloguing, and governance (including Unity Catalogue if applicable).

Requirements:
+ Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
+ Hands-on experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a similar role.
+ Deep expertise in Databricks, including Spark (PySpark/Scala), Delta Lake, and orchestration within Databricks workflows.
+ Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and data services on at least one major cloud platform (Azure preferred, but AWS or GCP also accepted).
+ Proficiency in data modelling, SQL, data warehousing, and ETL frameworks.
+ Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and DevOps practices.
+ Solid understanding of data governance, privacy, and security best practices.

Define the architecture for high profile, public facing, government, and private sector projects, including providing architectural and technical leadership
Define data strategy, data migration approach, data integration approach, data models and data design for any given client
Investigate and thoroughly understand the current live applications and systems at any given client site
Ensure that the scope, context and constraints are documented and accepted
Define and document strategies, standards and guidelines to direct the build and deployment of systems
Ensure that agreed upon architectural principles and standards are applied to the finished system or product
Define a strategic Data Model across the enterprise and products
Propose technical solutions for storing data in distributed systems
Create a model that works for small micro-services as well as big-data storage solutions in line with national infrastructure standards and frameworks
Govern and support technical delivery of those solutions
Line manage, mentor, train and develop others
Qualifications:
You will have a strong architecture and software engineering background, have led teams of engineers or other architects and be able to contribute to our internal data strategy and thought leadership
In addition you will have:
Experience with defining data strategy, data migration approach, data integration approach
Experience being a hands on data architect (only when needed with programme languages Java, Scala and Python)
Experience with Big Data technologies
Experience with AWS and services
Experience with both open source and vendor data platforms.
Experience with data architecture, architectural concepts, methodologies and approaches.
Experience with microservices architecture
Experience of designing for both structured and unstructured data

Join us and be part of something bigger.nAs a Data Architect (Manager) in Kainos, you’ll be responsible for providing SME guidance in traditional data architecture disciplines around data structures, data flows, data sourcing and data governance. Data Architects work closely with clients to understand their data requirements and take responsibility for ensuring solutions are fit for purpose. They also provide technical leadership for the rest of the team in the area of data. Data Architects may also work at the solution or enterprise level - for example resolving data definition and mastering issues across complex stakeholder environments.
Most of our work comes through repeat business and direct referrals, which comes down to the quality of our people. The success of our data projects means that customers are bringing us an increasing number of exciting data projects using cutting-edge technology to solve real-world problems. We are seeking more high calibre people to join our Data & AI capability where you will grow and contribute to industry-leading technical expertise.nYou will manage, coach and develop a a small number of staff, with a focus on managing employee performance and assisting in their career development. You’ll also provide direction and leadership for your team as you solve challenging problems together.nExperience across UK Healthcare sector or Public SectornStrong technical design expertise in core data architecture disciplines including data modelling, data analysis, metadata management, data transformation, data migration and master data.nTrack record of providing technical leadership within data projects including assurance, mentoring and standards definition. Aware of best practice techniques and methodologies.nExperience of product or technology selection, either for a project or at enterprise level.nExcellent client engagement skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders – able to provide thought leadership to clients and the wider industry and to inspire internal staff.nHighly proficient in at least three mainstream data technologies and aware of wider data technology trends.nA self-starter able to work with a high degree of uncertainty. We are passionate about developing people – a demonstrated ability in managing, coaching and developing junior members of your team and wider community.nCompetent in defining information handling models and capacity planning across heterogeneous data store technologies.nExperience of establishing data governance processesnExperience of architecting a data lake and solutions that reside within a data lake ecosystemnAt Kainos, we believe in the power of diversity, equity and inclusion.
