Technical Writer (AI LLM) Newcastle onsite to £100k

Opportunity to progress your career in an innovative Technical Writer role at a scale-up Investment Management firm that has secure backing, an established Hedge Fund client as a partner and massive growth potential.

As a Technical Writer you will define, structure and document input requirements, expected outputs, edge cases and constraints for AI systems involved in code generation or code assistance, translating complex technical concepts and workflows into AI compatible formats such as structured prompts, templates or schema definitions.

You'll design prompt engineering strategies to optimise AI outputs in software development tasks, assist in the creation of training data for AI tools and help to evaluate the effectiveness of AI generated code, providing feedback to improve system performance. You will create, edit and maintain high-quality technical documentation including user guides, API documentation, installation manuals and system operation procedures.

Location / WFH:

You'll join colleagues in brand new Central Newcastle offices on a full-time basis (Monday to Friday), working hours 0900-1800 with some flexibility. The offices are well equipped and offer fantastic views across the City and the local countryside, many employees walk or cycle in (onsite showers available!).

About you:

  • You have an academic record of achievement, minimum 2.1 at BSc from a top tier university
  • You have experience in a similar Technical Writer / Technical Author / Systems Analyst role
  • You have a strong knowledge of AI and LLMs, including a deep understanding of prompts
  • You have an innovative mindset
  • You can read and understand at least one OO programming language (e.g. Python, C#, SQL, C++)
  • You have experience with documentation tools such as Markdown, LaTeX, Confluence, JIRA or Git-based workflows
  • You're collaborative and pragmatic with excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Configuring controlled value lists, UOMS etc.
+ Manage data to other applications such as AVEVA Net/Engage.
+ Demonstrate strong understanding of IM and Data Management concepts i.e. Data Class Libraries, Interfaces with Engineering Applications etc
+ Manage multi-location, IM data management teams.
+ Liaise with Client and/or Construction and/or Completions team personnel to ensure commissioning/operational hand-over requirements are understood & being met.
+ Define and develop data reports on completeness and statistics.
+ Provide regular reports on completeness of data set.
+ Coordinate with engineering disciplines to resolve any data inconsistencies, errors, or mapping issues.
What you will need:
+ University degree qualification or equivalent oil and gas industry experience.
+ Experience in an Engineering, Designer or information management role.
+ An understanding of relational database applications to analyse, manipulate and transfer data.
+ Experience of using AVEVA Engineering/information standards manager (ISM), Life Cycle Server, SMARTPLANT Foundation.
+ Knowledge of AVEVA Net, AVEVA Engage and AIM an advantage.
+ SSRS, OBIEE, Power BI reporting or similar required. PML, procedural SQL etc an advantage.
+ Working knowledge of CFIHOS or other equivalent class libraries.
