About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Physical Education Teacher to join our team and inspire young people to lead active, healthy lives. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality PE lessons across a range of age groups and abilities, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and wellbeing in line with Curriculum for Excellence (CfE).

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

• A relevant degree in Physical Education or Sports Science (e.g. BEd, PGDE in PE, or equivalent).

• Full registration  with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) .

• Demonstrated experience teaching PE within Scottish schools or an equivalent educational setting.

• Strong understanding of the Curriculum for Excellence , particularly within the Health and Wellbeing framework.

• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

• Commitment to inclusive practice and promoting participation from all learners.

Desirable

• Experience in extracurricular coaching or leading school sports teams.

• Additional coaching qualifications (e.g. UKCC Level 1/2 in relevant sports).

• First Aid certification.

• Deep understanding of current trends and research in higher education and learning sciences.
• Excellent analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
• Strong presentation and facilitation abilities, capable of engaging diverse academic audiences.
• Experience working in a hybrid environment, balancing remote consultation with on-site collaboration.
• Knowledge of quality assurance frameworks and accreditation processes in the UK education sector.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple consulting projects concurrently.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with faculty and administrators.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate early years curriculum and educational programs in line with national standards and best practices.
• Create engaging and age-appropriate learning activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Provide guidance and support to educators and caregivers on effective teaching methodologies and child development strategies.
• Conduct research on emerging trends and research in early childhood education and integrate findings into practice.
• Develop assessment tools and strategies to monitor children's progress and identify areas needing support.
• Ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all children.
• Collaborate with parents and families to foster strong home-school partnerships.
• Organize and facilitate professional development workshops for early years practitioners.

• Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
• Recognized early years qualification (e.g., EYPS, PGCE Primary with Early Years Specialism).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in early years education, with at least 2 years in a leadership or curriculum development role.
• In-depth knowledge of child development theories, play-based learning, and pedagogical approaches.
• Excellent understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework or equivalent national curriculum.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop creative educational solutions.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.

• Knowledge of child protection policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Passion for early childhood development and a commitment to providing high-quality education.
