In the last 12 months our Driving Instructors hourly rates have increased on average by 3 per hour due to the high demand.
Additionally, over 70% of our Driving Instructors have waiting lists, some as long as 6 months. There has never been a better time to become a driving instructor.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and self-motivated Education Area Manager, to support our Supported Internships Programme as part of the Mencap Training Academy. This role requires the successful applicant to be a driver.
The Education Area Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring Mencap’s Supported Internship programme delivers outstanding education provision that secures positive outcomes, with the learners at the centre of everything we do. The successful candidate will coach, mentor and develop a team of Programme Coordinators who lead on the delivery of supported internships across Birmingham, Worchester, Staffordshire and Northamptonshire.
This role is a full time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position. It will require the postholder to travel to sites, approximately 2-3 days per week so a driver is an essential criteria. The rest of the time this role can be performed from home. At mencap we enable colleagues, where the role allows, to be able to work from wherever is comfortable, giving colleagues flexibility.
As an Education Area Manager it will be important to develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with colleagues in other departments who support and enable delivery of the programme through data, compliance, quality and finance. You will work closely with the Regional Programme Manager to drive a culture of high performing, compliant teams that secure positive outcomes for the learners on our programmes.
