Job Summary

We are a dynamic, community-focused organisation launching an exciting new Boxing Intervention Programme aimed at re-engaging young people who have struggled within traditional education systems. Our holistic approach combines functional skills (Maths & English)with mentorship and physical activity to support personal and academic growth.

We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Educational Coordinator to lead our small but impactful learning provision. You will design and deliver tailored sessions (1:1 or small groups of up to 5 learners), ensuring an inclusive environment for young people with diverse needs, including dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences

Duties

  • Plan and deliver engaging functional skills (Maths & English) sessions aligned with Pearson/Ascentis standards.
  • Adapt teaching methods to support learners with SEN (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD) and those disengaged from mainstream education.
  • Coordinate the educational provision, including assessments, progress tracking, and individualised learning plans
  • Collaborate with the boxing intervention team to integrate education with personal development.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to the learning programme (e.g., attendance, reporting).
  • Foster a positive, motivating environment that rebuilds learners' confidence and skills.

Skills

  • Experience teaching functional skills (Maths & English) or similar, ideally with knowledge of Pearson or Ascentis education frameworks
  • Understanding of SEN adaptations (e.g., dyslexia-friendly strategies, multi-sensory learning).
  • Passion for working with vulnerable or disengaged young people patience, creativity, and resilience are key
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for 1:1 and small-group settings max 5 learners
  • Organised, proactive, and willing to support light administrative duties
  • A background in sports/boxing interventions is a plus but not essential.

About the Role

You will provide efficient and professional administrative support for all aspects of teaching and learning activities, assisting in achieving a high quality and timely service to current and prospective students, and staff relating to the designated courses/programmes and beyond. The post holder will interact with many people within and external to UCL, and work closely with our partner organisation, thus will need a professional approach, a collaborative mindset, and a focus on contributing to a positive and supportive team environment to adequately execute the duties outlined. Working as part of a wider programme team/(s) to provide specialist administration to designated postgraduate taught (PGT) degree programmes, ensuring effective procedures are adopted and documented for dealing with all aspects of the administration.

Appointment details:

  • The post is graded at GRADE 5, the annual salary for which ranges from pro-rata of £3 904 - 5,575 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
  • This role is fixed-term until 31 August 2026, 0.5 FTE
  • The role will mainly be based at UCL's Bloomsbury Campus
  • This role is eligible for hybrid working with 40-60% on site. Ideally, the postholder will be onsite every Thursday and on alternative Tuesdays. Some flexibility may be able to be explored where required
