As their project pipeline grows, we’re looking for a skilled Grid Connection Manager to take ownership of all grid-related activities — from feasibility and application to energisation — ensuring our battery storage projects are delivered efficiently and in full compliance with regulatory and technical standards.


If you are experienced in Grid Connections within the energy sector with an understanding of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) this is a fantastic opportunity of offer. In the role, you’ll lead on securing, managing, and optimising grid connections for their portfolio of BESS and hybrid renewable energy projects. You’ll work closely with the development, engineering, and delivery teams to ensure each project achieves the best possible commercial and technical outcomes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end grid connection process for BESS and renewable energy projects.
  • Manage relationships with DNOs, TOs, and National Grid ESO, ensuring smooth and transparent communication throughout.
  • Prepare and submit grid connection applications, reviewing offers and negotiating optimal terms.
  • Analyse grid capacity, constraint data, and connection queue positions to inform site selection and investment decisions.
  • Oversee compliance with G99/G100, grid codes, and technical connection standards.
  • Monitor policy and regulatory developments affecting grid access and storage integration.
  • Provide strategic insight on network trends, connection availability, and innovation opportunities in the flexibility and storage market.


Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering, Power Systems, technical, engineering, Geography, Geology, Economics , Environmental Science field or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience managing grid connections for battery storage, solar, or renewable generation projects.
  • An understanding of UK DNO/TO/NGESO processes and connection agreements.
  • An understanding of grid codes, G99/G100, and relevant engineering standards.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and technical negotiation.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.

You will provide low voltage electrical design and consultancy services for nationally significant clients, supporting technical leads on complex engineering projects. + Specification and design of renewable energy generation & energy storage systems to support our client's decarbonisation and net-zero goals to deliver a more sustainable world.
+ The design of innovative urban realm regeneration projects by creating beautiful, vibrant and pleasant public spaces for people to work, live and play in.
+ Highway electrical design and assurance across local authority and National Highways client bases.
No two days will be the same, but you could be expected to:
+ Support the design team lead on larger scale projects to strive towards a right first-time approach focusing on high-quality outputs. The identification and mitigation of risks is a key aspect to ensure designs are safe and compliance with CDM regulations.
+ For smaller scale projects you would be expected to carry out a discipline lead role and be accountable for your disciplines resourcing and ensuring delivery is on track, both commercially and according to the agreed project programme. Reporting any issues encountered in a proactive and timely fashion.
+ Contribute within project meetings and reviews to provide input with regards your project responsibilities.
+ Coordinate and communicate with other design teams and stakeholders across all projects. This is essential at all stages of projects from understanding scope, identifying your dependencies and right through to later project lifecycle stages such as clash detection workshops.
+ Depending on your knowledge and experience you may mentor and develop other technicians and engineers to aid their continued professional development.
