The Engineering Lead role is a hands-on role which combines technical knowledge and skills with leadership responsibilities. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the engineering and design team, coordinating various projects across multiple stakeholders to ensure that our Client produces exquisite products. To instil and improve the required disciplines and processes, to increase departmental efficiency in pursuit of excellence. As an integral part of the Operations Team the Engineering Lead ensures that the Engineering team converts Marketing's advanced concepts to physical end product. The Lead also ensures the necessary design and engineering governance and were applicable product certification is obtained and maintained.
 
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Engineering Design team to ensure critical new product developments are delivered within timeframes. This involves collaborating with all other departments and stakeholders.
- Ensure key engineering design principles are followed including designing for functionality, cost, quality, compliance, durability, and manufacturability.
- Work with the marketing concept design team to efficiently progress their new and special product designs to develop processes and ultimately product. (Aesthetic design is the responsibility of Marketing)
- Champion Industry first inventions and deliver critical projects required for future business success.
- Improve and maintain product hierarchy and taxonomy on the ERP and Vault
- Maintain the new, current and end of life product information database including oversee the structure, creation, and maintenance of BOM’s & BOP’s
- Ensure the completeness of all design packages including drawings, diagrams, instructions (manufacturing, assembly, fitting) and maintenance.
- Improve DFQ and DFM principles underpinning zero defect ambitions.
- Lead ongoing research into best materials, processes and equipment to produce products
- As part of DFM support initial manufacturing and assembly processes to ensure successful production of products including their quality, functionality, cost-effectiveness and process efficiency
- Provide technical support to the organisation, suppliers and customers as may be required
- Deliver engineering outcomes as part of the engineering team by use of CAD and CAE technologies to produce drawings and diagrams of initial product concepts and ideas
- Ensure regulatory product compliance were applicable, lead compliance projects, stay abreast changes in regulation and advise the business of changes.
- Systematically value engineering existing products to reduce variation, reduce costs or improve performance.
 
Skills & Attributes:
- Product and Process Design Engineering or related qualification
- Min 5 years’ experience in a related Engineering / Manufacturing industry leading a team of multidisciplined designers and engineers
- Project management principles, managing the development of products and processes from inception through to the effective production thereof
- Advanced use of related CAD software and associated software including ERP product management applications. AutoCAD Inventor and Fusion preferred.
- Ironmongery or metal processing knowledge advantageous
- Strong pragmatic problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with prototype software, 3D printing

Boeing Training Solutions is a passionate aviation inspired team that enables world class flight crew training products for global customers. This engineering internship will be embedded at Boeing's Gatwick Training Campus with the Simulator Engineering team, who are responsible for engineering of Boeing commercial Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTDs). This role will include FSTD special projects ranging from developing aircraft simulation software models, troubleshooting FSTD technical issues, completing FSTD hardware and software updates, performing verification and validation of simulator software changes, and supporting the qualification and regulatory activities. Work will require strong collaboration skills to connect with stakeholders from internal Boeing engineering teams, FSTD suppliers, flight training instructors, pilots, customers, and regulators. This role will be expected to support ad-hoc night shift work aligned to the availability of FSTD schedules and project requirements.
The responsibilities will include:
+ Investigate and resolve write ups from training crews either by investigating aircraft data to see if the write up matches real world operation or making changes to the devices software to rectify the issue.
+ Work with suppliers to deploy and accept new software loads.
+ Creation and maintenance of lesson plans used to ensure every training session is delivered in a consistent manner.
+ Working closely with global simulator operations teams to keep the Boeing simulator fleet operating seamlessly to train customers 24/7.
+ Simulator regulatory qualification and evaluation support.
+ Working with the SimBinary team to integrate new aircraft features into our delivered products.
Required Skills:
