Our client is a renowned engineering consultancy seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Civil Engineering Project Lead to join their fully remote, international team. This role is critical for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of complex civil engineering projects, ensuring they meet stringent quality, safety, and environmental standards. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage project budgets, and ensure timely delivery of milestones. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of civil engineering principles, including structural design, geotechnical engineering, transportation, and water resources. Responsibilities include developing project scope, detailed design documentation, and construction methodologies. You will liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and stakeholder satisfaction. First People Solutions are partnering with a leading civil engineering firm who specialise in earthworks on power and renewable energy projects, and we are recruiting an experienced Civil Engineering General Foreman on a permanent basis to cover projects through Scotland.

You will ideally be located in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife or anywhere else throughout the central belt and able to travel to various sites throughout Scotland when required.

You will need to have:

  • Demonstrable experience in civil engineering and earthworks.
  • Skilled in managing direct teams, subcontractors, and plant.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety management on site.
  • Confident IT and record-keeping skills.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel across Scotland.
  • SMSTS/SSSTS certification.
  • First Aid certification.

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Organise labour, plant, and materials to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Take ownership of site health and safety, ensuring RAMS are communicated and followed.
  • Assist the Site Agent with initial set-up, implementing company systems and procedures.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings; carry out accurate material take-offs.
  • Manage and coordinate direct labour and gangers to deliver civil engineering works.
  • Oversee delivery of earthworks and reinforced concrete packages.
  • Lead daily briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Keep clear and accurate site records, including diaries, allocation sheets, plant returns, and GRNs.
  • Contribute to weekly progress meetings, providing updates on resources and programme status.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, offering support to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Identify and escalate technical issues where appropriate.
  • Ensure works are delivered on time, within budget, and to programme requirements.

It would be beneficial but not essential if you have:

  • Previous experience in live substations or the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of reinforced concrete works.
  • HSG47 Service Avoidance (Cat/Genny).
